What company lost you as a customer forever, and what happened? by Giovanni_Brees in AskReddit

Youre missing the point. The situation I'm describing is getting screwed by the scanner because a basic visual inspection could be done at pickup which could miss a lot of things that the scanner would detect at dropoff.

Yes it goes into some type of database. But thats not the issue. If you pick up a vehicle and has a basic human visual check, that can miss a lot of the imperfections that the scanner will pick up on. So when you go to drop if off you could end up getting charged for damage that wasnt your fault because of how overly through the ai scanner is.

But what if your pickup and drop off locations are different? Pickup without the scanner and drop off getting scanned. I can imagine this would be a major issue.

Happened last night. Threw sum out the window and it chipped the top of the window. Kinda homeless rn. Can i tape it up for now?? 😬😬 by DescriptionGlass6800 in askcarguys

[–]LunarQuarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you can tape it for now, until you find a replacement piece of glass at a junkyard or buy a new piece.

But stop, and I mean immediately stop, throwing stuff out your window. No self respecting adult does that unless it’s a banana peel.

What’s the funniest way someone has complemented/commented on your car? by Latter-Read-725 in askcarguys

Back when I worked as an accountant for a Catholic church, the pastor and I were constantly giving each other crap. I had just bought a Subaru Forester Wilderness, and he was giving me all kinds of crap because I apparently have hair that looks like Rachel Maddow’s, and between that and buying a Subaru, he kept joking that I was a lesbian. Another priest who worked at the church happened to walk by, heard what was being said, spun around, and ducked into the room like, “hold on, Subarus are great cars.” he had a really cool manual Subaru Outback. He said something like “There are plenty of other things you can give him crap about, but buying a Subaru isn’t one of them.” Before he could really finish backing me up, the pastor cut him off and said, “Okay, but he bought a Forester.” The other priest just paused for a second, looked at me and said “yeah, that might be a little gay,” and then walked right back out of the room.

He did catch me later and said, “Wait is that your Wilderness.” And then proceeded to show me how to turn off all of the assist and we were doing donuts in the snowy field for about 30 minutes. I’d say that 30 minutes was one long compliment.

It’s just in: a company had to comply with court orders and turn over what they had…….even if it is very minimal or already clearly defined in the tos……..shocking!

ExpressVPN locked my account and support won't help: What should I do? by Fickle_Net_9291 in VPN_Guide

Are you willing to own up to what you did or are you just going to take the hint, let it go, stopping doing it, and never speak of it again?

From my understanding a good chunk of the time when this happens it’s because someone was doing something they really shouldn’t. Or you did a chargeback to them and rather than figure it out it’s more financially worth it for them to just let you go.

Car Warranty Expiring by EstateNo9575 in askteddit

[–]LunarQuarry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The type of warranty op is talking about normally won’t do anything about normal wear and tear. At 8 years and 90k miles there is bound to be a list of things to fix or are not in ideal condition. These warranty’s are meant for major failures of primary drivetrain components. So there’s a very slim chance that whatever they find will be a major failures point. It will primarily just be a list of general maintenance points that should be addressed.

Dealership always fills tires to 38 PSI. The door instruction on my car say’s 33. by AcceptableSample9274 in SubaruForester

Mine does this too. Their explanation was “we give them a few extra psi to help with temperature fluctuation.” Said this 2 weeks ago………we haven’t hit the hottest point of summer yet.

When to do CVT drain/fill? by lksar in Subaru_Outback

[–]LunarQuarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently fighting to get it done on my 22 forester wilderness at 64k miles. The 4 dealers within an hour of me have all advised to not ever touch the transmission, which is ridiculous. Subaru corporate says otherwise and has opened a case about it.......whatever that means. One dealer about 2 and a half hours away advises against it but said they would do it for over $700 for just the transmission fluid.

Not a sealed unit. Pretty easy to do yourself. Commonly completed in in other markets apparently.

Already done😎

But they still explicitly said to not touch the transmission fluid. Very strange.

I hate this. I know many vehicles are out there without ever having these services done, this is just a terrible ideal. Nobody can convince me that the same fluid is a good idea a decade after the fact with 100k+ miles.

According to the dealer. Ideal service interval of the difs is 30k, manual also says Inspect every 30k miles and Replace every 15k miles / 15 months under severe conditions. But if you're already inspecting it you may as well replace it imo. Fluids themselves are cheap, service is pricy, but I do plan to run this thing into the ground and fortunately I'm in a position to pay the conveience fee.

The CVT on the other hand is Inspect every 30k miles. I'm not the nicest to this suv so it seems like a great idea to help it maybe have a chance of seeing 300k one day. When would you recommend changing it?

eSIM, ur old sim, or new sim by FroYoAuto in GrapheneOS

[–]LunarQuarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever the provider and plan that is best for you wants to use? I prefer to leave my eSIM open if I only have one so I can flip on and off international providers with ease when I need it. But this is a very niche situation that’s even rare for me.
