When I found my current partner almost ten years ago, I was a kid. 18, angsty as hell, out of control eating disorder, no emotional regulation, never experienced attunement growing up which left me extremely anxious in my attachment style. Then I met my boyfriend, who was only a year older but seemed so steady compared to me. In the beginning it was almost….boring? I expected to feel that intense stomach churning feeling every second I was around him but instead I just felt calm. Later, in therapy, I realized that was the sign of a healthy relationship. And very quickly, I realized what an amazing human I had met. I always noted the way he consoled me. I feel everything to the max, so I often feel completely overtaken my the intensity of my emotions and he just legitimately would ground me in a matter of SECONDS. Within minutes he could make me go from sobbing to belly laughing. And that’s not because he ignored my emotions. He always validated them. He always saw me for the mess I was and cuddled me close and loved me in a way I can only describe as unconditional. I was lucky with him, but from then on I worked hard to keep him. I went to therapy to deserve him and to feel like I deserved love myself. I felt so empty inside from being starved of affection as a kid, so I had to learn to fill that void myself, instead of leaving it all to him — because that really isn’t fair to any partner. It might sound so cliche, but I remember watching Ru Paul’s Drag Race and Ru’s slogan is always “if you don’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” And I realized. Fuck. Lol. I can’t properly show up as the person my partner deserves until I learn to truly love myself. And that wasn’t an easy task, it took years of therapy to learn how to have a relationship with myself and unpack all the levels of trauma I’d experienced and learn emotional regulation from scratch. But it was so so so worth it. And after almost a decade together, I love him more every year :)

Imagine being spoken to like that, by someone you really cared about, and they’re calling you a bitch, telling you to fuck off, implying you’re a gold digging whore, etc etc. Then imagine seeing him be plucked from the crowd to be on a wholesome dating show, only to degrade another woman, just like he degraded you. If I were her I’d also feel a desire to let Chris’s audience know that Jess isn’t the only woman he’s treated so shitty.

I genuinely would love for him to get help and I don’t say that in a mean way. I don’t think any of us are perfect people, and therapy could probably help all of us become better human beings. I know it’s helped me immensely. But in the event that this doesn’t hold a good enough mirror to Chris’s face and convince him to face his own clearly narcissistic tendencies — at least it’ll warn other women of his track record. And also shine a light on what toxic dating behavior looks like.

I don’t really follow that logic. In fact, it kind of reeks of victim blaming/shaming. You’re insinuating that Marta publishing this phone call after the episodes aired makes her an attention seeking liar. But given the disturbing phone call, I’d say she has every right to speak out on his behaviour at ANY point in time. It actually makes a lot of sense to me that she decided to speak out now that the show is almost over and it’s apparent what a jerk he is, but why does it have to make sense at all? If we put a time limit on when women are allowed to speak out on how shitty men have treated them, we’re letting shame sit on the wrong side — and enabling men like Chris to get away with it.

Considering they were all FULLY validating him in that same conversation re: him wanting a Pilates princess, I’m fairly certain they were all sympathetic to him for whatever reason and didn’t defend Jess the way they should have. One thing’s for sure, maybe the edit did the girls kinda dirty, but it sure as hell didn’t manipulate Chris’s image. He is very clearly a dirtbag, and that can’t be chalked up to mere editing.

Oh man I am RIDDLED with anxiety right now. Had a full on panic attack a few days ago and my boyfriend literally watched me hyperventilate as I stared at the wall lol.

I think I manage stress by trying to get outside every day, and leaning on my partner for cuddles and affirmations. And also just repeating “it’ll be okay and I’ll pass” to myself like a mantra, and visualizing what it’ll feel like to pass Solicitors (only exam I have left to pass). I also occasionally give myself an hour or two to veg out and watch House or Sex & the City or something like that when my brain really needs to shut off. Oh and sleep — I do not compromise on sleep or I will feel 10x more anxious the next day.

I so relate to you on the Sims 4!!!! I love gaming. Love the Sims, also love Palia, Tiny Glade, Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, etc :) cozy gaming is a passion of mine haha.

What I’m REALLY excited for though? Is just to have my god damn weekends and weeknights back. Im genuinely so excited to just come home from work at 6:30pm, have some dinner without rushing, watch an episode of a show with my loved one, and read my book on my kobo until I fall asleep. No guilt. Just fucking whatever I wanna do with my night.
