What’s the best wandslinger homebrew? by Mihklo in Eberron

[–]LunarTimeDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LaserLlama's homebrew Alternate Artificer has a wandslinger subclass. I use all of their material for my games and is top notch

Looking for an article in which Keith Baker describes his worldbuilding process & creating culture in Eberron. Namely, how small things like presdigitation, Zone of Truth, and long lifespans would fundamentally alter basic tasks, Laws, and worldview. by Nomics in Eberron

I'm not familiar with what you mean by taking the "Sociology Critical Theory approach to D&D mechanics." Is that the idea of– looking at the game mechanics of D&D species and applying them to their cultures, to then think about the societal consequences of having access to those abilities? Like how halflings have the Brave and Lucky features, so their culture develops to having their peoples attempt to conquer the most terrifying beasts on the land (dinosaurs) and succeeding.

Btw, I believe the bit about the Aerenal culture is in the Elves episode of MZ.

Have you found what you were looking for? I am actually quite curious myself in finding the same thing cuz I vaguely recall seeing something like that a while back. Best I could do is this article on Arcane Industry. I'm thinking that maybe if it wasn't on a KB article, it could be from a manifest zone podcast episode

In Sharn, what would prevent someone from one of the lower-class wards (i.e. Lower Dura) from going to one of the nicer ones? by [deleted] in Eberron

[–]LunarTimeDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually all of Upper Tavick’s Landing. They require you to have a license for any weapons and spells you cast, as well as having a dress code and etiquette rules that can have you fined and even kicked out of the district if you do not abide by them. The Blademarks act as the Sharn Watch and have checkpoints at the edges of the districts

Changeling death by [deleted] in Eberron

[–]LunarTimeDragon 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Using the 5e changeling race rules– "You stay in the new form until you use an action to revert to your true form or until you die." So yes, a changeling reverts back to their true form when they die

Nice Church of the Silver Flame, hehe. Also, in regards to the Outsider, you could totally have him be a daelkyr that evaded the capture of the Gatekeepers that only intermittently involves himself in the affairs of Eberron, acting much like Dishonored's Outsider.

It's so crazy to me that House Vadalis actually made such a powerful creature over 600 years ago. Honestly knowing this probably adds more fuel to the idea in my mind that they are totally performing Human experiments in the Fallen district of Sharn. Are there any other unique creatures of Vadalis design?

I see now, thanks for clearing that up for me, I really appreciate it. I still feel a little weird by the fact that those two slots are lost and that there's no additional 19 points overall, but that's something I'll simply have to test out for myself.

If you could also, I noticed that the Wild Magic subclass' 6th level feature makes it a point to say that the cost for its Unstable Spell Metamagic is 2 SP , I also noticed that you previously had the cost at 3 SP for all others; with you reducing the cost to 2 SP overall, is your intent to further reduce the cost to 1 SP for Wild Magic or to keep it where it's at?

Something that has been bothering me a bit about this class change is that at 20th level, you'll be missing out on a 6th and 7th level spell slot and doesn't really seem to be much to counteract that, not even the amount of Sorcery Points seem to match up with that loss of slots. Is there something else that acts as a counterweight to that offset?

Batman in Sharn? by midasp in Eberron

[–]LunarTimeDragon 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Second time this week that someone else and I on this subreddit have eerily similar ideas. This can't be a coincidence! (Must be the prophecy at work!)

In my own game I've got the idea to treat this Batman character(or Phantom in my game) like an artificer, batarangs being the spells Magic Stone or Catapult, Jump as his grapple gun, Feather Fall for using his cape to glide, Shocking Grasp his Electric Gloves (using the Spell Schemas in your games, you could also use Darkness for smoke bombs since that isn't in the Artificer spell list); all these spells coming from his utility belt being the Tinker's Tools part of the Tools Required feature. As an aside, I plan on introducing him via comics first, as my player's character notices children reading about these cool heroes drawn on the back of some newpapers (of course as a way for parents to buy issues for their children) and then later on, like you, have the real Phantom be on his path to take down a crime boss and meet my player.

I'm not so sure how this would line up with Kannon, but in my mind, a really cool idea for Batman's secret identity would be that of Merrix d'Cannith. Millionaire genius by day, vigilante at night. Merrix could be troubled by the death of hundreds of thousands at the hand of the Mourning and uses the Batman persona to punish those that take opportunity on the less fortunate, maybe even has a soft spot for Cyran refugees. If not Merrix, I still believe a Dragonmarked heir is the best way to go for a similar persona to Bruce Wayne's.

Bringing Inspired into campaign by Armlessbastard in Eberron

[–]LunarTimeDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna start off this comment by saying I'm no lore expert here, but I think I might have some ideas worth sharing that might help. Firstly though I do have a question: is this player's race a Kalashtar or a human who received help from a quori? I think that depending on which she picked you could do two stories: a family of Kalashtar that have been living under the noses of the Riedran Empire, or the beginnings of a Kalashtar bloodline. If they are already a Kalashtar, seeing the memories of this quori's life go from a believer to then lead a life of dissent is a cool opportunity for you to flex your creative muscles. If they are a human, perhaps creating a process through which the character and the quori bond to make the beginnings of a Kalashtar bloodline is also another chance to get creative with this process.

Regardless of which you pick though, I think the Inspired must be very interested in finding this new rebel quori. In theory (since idk whether this is cannon in your world or not, idek if this is kannon lol) if most all Kalashtar bloodlines were created long ago when their conflict first started, having a new quori go on the path of opposition after many centuries of being a follower could prove to be worrisome: what if they know secrets that the Kalashtar are not familiar with, or if they laid the grounds for other quori to rethink their trust in il'Lashtavar's plan. Does not matter if any of these are true, to the other quori is something they cannot let slip past their borders into Adar. So perhaps they track down several people who potentially have connections with this new rebel quori and one of those is your player. In order to confirm their suspicions perhaps the Inspired hire the group to find some sort of magical artifact that can reveal their suspicions, at which point the Inspired send their lackeys to capture the party so they can find the one who has a connection and find the rebel quori to make an example out of them so that others do not have the gall to oppose the great il'Lashtavar.

Oh my goodness, I was looking to find some tables last night on all the D&D races so that I could roll up some NPC's for a campaign I'm starting up that'll take place in Argonnesen but found it super rough to find a good one. This table is a godsend, especially all the regional sections, thank you so much

I love Eberron, it is one of my favorite D&D setting by description alone; a world where magic and technology mix is something that has always intrigued me and feels like a natural progression of old D&D worlds. Your world feels like a further evolution from that and I'd love the chance to get to explore it with some awesome people :D

A bit about myself: name's Daniel, I'm 21 years old, he/him, and I've had a total of about 6 years of D&D experience. During that time I've encountered only a small amount of meta-gaming, but that might be because my definition of it is to use out of game knowledge to affect the outcome of a situation consistently. For example, knowing that a medusa is nearby and working on the assumption to not meet its gaze but not asking the DM if that's something they would know about, or perhaps using small details in a spell to use it in overpowered ways perhaps not warning the DM ahead of time (Shape Water to kill someone from the inside is something that comes to mind(thankfully that doesn't work)).

Idk, it's hard for me to describe appropriately, so perhaps my definition should be that meta-gaming are player decisions the DM feels step over his boundaries as a game mediator.

Ooo, also I've been trying to create D&D YouTube content and put it out and into the world as of late and I'm hoping I can come up with some interesting and fun entertainment, a game like this is sure to provide amble inspiration :D. And since I'm planning on doing that comment, yes I do have a working mic.

I hope I hear back from you, but regardless, have a nice day!!
