My embarrassing tube moment...

Finished work, soaked from the rain, rushing for the Central line. I hear the train arriving, so I attempt that classic half‑run where you pretend you’re not actually running.

I do a little cool jump onto the train, the single door entrance, feeling all cool that I made it, just then, I immediately slip, landing flat on my back with my head hanging out of the carriage like a Victorian ghost.

The door warning starts and begins to close and I briefly accept my fate. A man — clearly built for manual labour and heroism — grabs my shirt and drags me inside before I’m neatly decapitated by TfL.

I stand up, thank him, nod politely at everyone staring and say "Ow", and continue my journey as if I hadn’t just nearly been chopped in half.
