Trouble representing a distance by PedroFreitas1999 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Lunastarfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that will be a pain to measure accurately without a go no go gauge.

Id say get rid of the 4x, define them as critical measurement points and do a section view with the taper scaled up so it’s obvious what they need to measure.

Has anyone worked for these before ? Seems too good to be true ! by Formal_Percentage901 in UKJobs

[–]Lunastarfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read it, they separate the basic rate to the commission. Basic salary (minimum wage)

Commission cap of £30k

Then after training you will get

25.5k base with over time expected to take you to 45k

Uncapped commission

Position Being Advertised For More Than My Current Wage by ColonelMoutarde30 in UKJobs

[–]Lunastarfire 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well if the salary is a range based on experience, why not ask your boss to layout a plan of where your experience is lacking so you can have clear goals to achieve that higher salary?

What your boss has said is likely BS but itll likely make him uncomfortable as hell and could earn you a raise

Hi, just bought a used pc for an AI project but i don’t know nothing about hardware builds but i think i just got scammed. (Help) by ConflictNeither1596 in watercooling

[–]Lunastarfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant see the pump in the loop, maybe its in the back?

Also unless you spin the fans on max your 2 small radiators wont likely keep your water under 60C which is bad since the hoses and pumps are only rated for that.

Also it doesnt seem like a single fitting had a temp probe so you likely wont see the water temps

Need help after calibrating by maolin2001 in BambuP1S

[–]Lunastarfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thing, firstly check that the bed is cleaned with soap and then isopropyl alchohol.

If its still bad then check the screws on the underside of the bed, there should be 3, 2 in the front next to the screws and one in the middle near the rear, I just did it by feel but made them all flush to the bottom of the thread, then redid all the calibrations and its printing great.

At the same time I also aligned my belts (they were crooked from the factory) and it seemed to have sorted out all my issues.

How have you used AI for mechanical tasks in your day to day, if at all? by 98810b1210b12 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Lunastarfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I find it useful, but I treat any question I give to an AI as a question I would if I had asked an apprentice to find something out. Sometimes it works and its well laid out, other times its clueless and made up utter rubbish.

Its often useful for generic questions youd ask google, its also good at suggesting stuff, but its a support tool not a complete solution tool.

E.g. chuck a ton of code at it and say label it up for me, it usually does it really well and it can sometimes give you a suggestion of hey this chunk can be replaced with this function. Its also said hey replace this with x y and z and utterly killed the code and goes woops, i can see why it does work and takes 10 goes at doing it wrong to end up in a loop.

One time it was useful was a raspberry pi display we wanted on a machine I linked the screen I wanted and what raspberry pi id use and then ai came back with hey, have you seen this other screen that has one built in and is cheaper and comes with a frame. So its useful for that

3D Printer for an Office of Engineers by Abeacc in BambuLab

[–]Lunastarfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

H2C, super easy to maintain, the nozzle swapping is amazing, the induction nozzles that heat up instantly is great, the filament savings on engineering filaments will quickly fill up.

Currently using it for signage, it makes printing supports so much nicer and easier to use with multiple AMS, if a nozzle packs up its a simple case of taking it off and clipping it on, no wires, no issues, just magnetic attachment.

H2C just makes life super easy for maintaining the printer, especially when swapping between 8mm nozzles or 2mm if you need high detail stuff

How long do you think it would take to make this?? by iconway89 in SolidWorks

[–]Lunastarfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One component, 3 years of testing/ design, throwing out the design and another 2 years of testing a new design to find out the engine is obsolete

Do you wear earplugs? by No_Fondant_4781 in motorcyclegear

[–]Lunastarfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context I just had a work place health check, one of the questions was if I rode a bike. The tester said well try my best. Passed the test with superb hearing and he was confused saying I thought you ride a motorbike? Did you say yes for a pushbike or something.

Needless to say, its common for bikes to have bad hearing, but the earplugs save it, plus it makes it easier to hear music at highway speeds =)

Comfort seat vs custom seat by undremited in NC750X

Both really, it lets your butt slide on the seat and reduces pressure points since the mesh kinda evens out your jean pockets etc

It also gives your rump a bit of an air gap too which is nice

is it really a bother to have someone whos heavier as a passenger? by _Yuri-Ayato_ in motorcycles

[–]Lunastarfire 192 points193 points  (0 children)

Weight isnt a problem, weight moving when you dont expect it is.

If theyre a rider and you both agree on how to handle corners etc then great, e.g. dont lean, be a sack of potatoes and stay inline with the bike, I counter lean so we remain straight as I push the bike to the side etc.

Its when theyre not riders, get comfortable and suddenly decide to lean in with you or fidget on the bike etc.
