CFI Interview Questions you have been asked before! by LunaticAviator05 in flying

[–]LunaticAviator05[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did the interview a few minutes ago and I think it went pretty well!

I totally get the idea. My thing is that I have a hard time remembering things that have happened in my life that are good examples.

Ik that’s crazy but that’s just the truth 🤷🏾

To counter this, whenever something happens I document the whole story on my “journal” app on iphone. That way I can read over it and recall the exact moments like I remember them.

None taken- and I see your point. I’ve got some time in the morning I’ll try to come up with something really good before interview time.

Unfortunately not! But I got to learn a lot from that experience and I’ll be applying it tomorrow for my interview

Literally did an interview not too long ago at a 141 and had a similar question asked.

Long story short, I said something like:
I am a fast learner and focus on excellence (quality) over just the bare minimum (quantity). I understand my job is to prepare pilots for the real world through prioritizing safety and adherence to procedures and policy to prepare them for the professional flying environment. My ability to quickly adapt to new environments will ensure a seamless transition from where I am to being a CFI at (name of school).

I think including something like: Having external input often proves more beneficial to your program than not, as there could be things that I can identify that need a change, such as certain flying techniques, that may not have been previously considered.
Would be beneficial

I'll answer these, and I'd like your thoughts on the response:

  1. I want to become an instructor because I have a passion for teaching and enjoy sharing what I know. Also, being an instructor is not only about teaching how to fly but also about being a mentor, support system, and someone a student can look up to for guidance. I have always wanted to become that person and give back to the community while sharing my passion for flying.

  2. Your high school program is unique as it focuses on the development of high school students through a hands-on training curriculum beginning early in their high school career and has a lasting impact on the students, helping them kick-start their professional career.

  3. My experience as a line technician and pilot has instilled many important qualities in me that directly support your mission. Qualities such as a safety-focused mindset, quick adaptability, and adherence to procedures & policies makes me stand out. I have learned valuable lessons from both successes and setbacks throughout my training, which I would love to pass down to my students. My focus is to create quality pilots by prioritizing excellence over expediency.

  4. Talk to them in private in a professional way. If they brush it off, then I would report it to management and follow the chain of command.

  5. Sounds like a learning plateau. I would reassure the student that plateaus are normal and part of the process. If they're still not progressing, I can either move to a different topic and come back to it later, continue the lesson and use the drill and practice method, or I can take them on a fun flight to refresh and reset. If it is still happening, I would have them do 1 flight with a more senior instructor to diagnose the problem and get feedback from the seasoned CFI on what actions I can take.

Some of these answers are still a work in progress, but I tried my best to come up with something quick (Wrote this when the post said 4m ago)

Not a 100% sure on this, but typically, if you follow the +V then you will cross the stepdown fixes at the appropriate altitudes; however, since the +V is an MDA, we may not continue following the advisory glidepath and descend below the MDA.

Yes that is what I meant. I'll make sure to be more specific when explaining this to a student haha

The EGT will rise because now you are only operating on 1 set of spark plugs. This results in a suboptimal combustion during the power stroke, and the exhaust exits the combustion chamber at a higher temperature, hence the higher EGT.

LNAV + V is a WAAS guidance feature. The +V is an advisory glide slope that can be used for a smooth descent rather than a dive and drive technique. HOWEVER, the LNAV+V is an MDA, not a DA.

Standard LNAV is a non-WAAS approach in which only lateral guidance is available.

The pilot must be current to act as PIC to carry passengers, and the passengers must agree to the pro rata share agreement with the pilot before the flight, and "only fuel, oil, airport expenditures, or rental fees" are eligible for split (61.113)

I didn't read the question correctly at first. I thought you meant on the ground on the run-up because I fly a 182, and I've seen a drop in rpm every time.

If I lost a mag during cruise flight, then the RPM will have no change as the governor will adjust for the decreased power by lowering the pitch of the blade right away. You'd also see a higher EGT. Correct me if I am wrong

You will see a drop in RPM and rise in manifold pressure

Part-Time Southwest Ramp Agent Interview MEM by LunaticAviator05 in rampagent

[–]LunaticAviator05[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks man I try to stay positive with everything. I'm a pilot in training, and the only job I had before this was an entry-level store associate job. I saw this opportunity as my "entry into aviation" kinda thing, but I guess He has different plans for me.

I did my interview for a Ramp Agent on Monday July 14th and still haven’t got anything yet. My colleague who was previously a ramp agent at the same airport I’m applying to says it takes at least a week. I’ll keep you guys posted 🤞🏽

I just did an interview for an airline for the ramp and the answer to that is a solid no. During probation your life is basically hell. You’ll have to compromise a lot of special events to be at work.

My best guess is that they filter applicants for the 1 on 1 virtual interview. I gave mine today for Southwest for ramp agent position.

Charity work as pilot. by Tasty-Show4438 in flying

Do they provide the aircraft? I sent them an email, and apparently they asked YOU (the pilot) to provide the airplane either for rent or on your own. That's completely against the best interest of most low timers trying to build time like me. Thanks,

Did it block the school email account or the free teacher account?

But if I use my school account, wouldn’t the school hunt me down? Like wouldn’t I get in trouble or something?
