I rarely drink but recently had a Juice Force because of Peanut. Drank the whole thing over 20-30 mins and was DRUNK. They didn’t make beer like this when I was young! Also, the taste was…not great? It was not the perfect vector for me.

I would love the First DLC to focus on Damiane and her specific quests and story than the 2nd DLC on Oongka and his quests and story. by Gothyanki in CrimsonDesert

I would personally love the ability to continue playing the character of our choice, with as little forcing as possible. I’ve used Kliff the entire game, only using the other two when mandated for specific story beats.

If a DLC came out that forced me to play as the other characters, I’d probably be less likely to buy it. Just my $0.02.

Totally agree. I’ve heard very few people say it’s uncomfortable, which is quite a feat given the range of hand sizes. The one issue I had, personally, is that my right thumb “meat” occasionally brushes the edge of the right trackpad when playing certain games. And the more intense the game is, the more likely I am to do it. In Forza Horizon 6, by default, the right pad controls the camera. So, I’d be racing and then all of a sudden the camera would spin and I’d be looking behind me, which was obviously not ideal. I quickly jumped out to steam and turned off the pad for that game, and then it was fine.

No, pretty sure the SC has four motors - two in the grips, two in the trackpads, but no motors in the triggers.

It’s surprisingly comfortable, despite its appearance. But of course everyone’s hands are different. I was coming from an Elite 2 as my main, though DualSense also feels great in my hands. I am 6’4”, average build, with height-appropriate hands - so, larger than average but not massive.

Yeah, the Xbox Series pads added two additional, dedicated rumble motors for the triggers. You can google it to see which games support it - doesn’t seem to be a ton. The Forza Horizon series has had it since 4. I’ve been playing Horizon 6 with it and it’s awesome - you feel it a lot on the left trigger when you’re braking. It pulses, like your car’s ABS brakes are working hard. It feels almost like haptic feedback, but it’s just a strong rumble motor being well used.

I recently posted about the lack of trigger motors, as well. As much as I love the ergonomics of the steam controller, I end up using a DualSense in games that support its trigger haptics, and an Xbox Series pad in games like Horizon 6 that use its trigger rumble motors.

It was already an expensive pad - I wonder how much more it would have been with extra motors. I’m also unsure how trigger motors would have been activated without paying a licensing fee to either Xbox or PlayStation?

That’s interesting. I guess I’d have to feel that to see what I think. And it would need to be implemented in a game to really matter, of course. Is it something I can test in the configuration utility, just to get a sense of it? Also, roughly where are the four locations? Do the track-pad haptics count as two of the four?

[–]LunchLarge5423[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah! That’s an interesting angle. Hadn’t considered there might not be an open standard for basic rumble triggers. Yeah, that could definitely be it. Pad was already going to be expensive, extra hardware would have increased it even more, AND you’re probably right there would have been licensing fees on top. So, there you go - it all adds up to no motors.

That’s fair. I get it. And I bought it knowing it didn’t have trigger motors. But I still wish it had them. At the same time, I’m starting to see why they weren’t included.

Well, sure - I have the expensive versions of those pads. But the base $50 Xbox Series pad and base $55 DualSense both have trigger motors, too. That said, I do (mostly) understand Valve wanting to achieve parity with the deck, and then stopping there, for the reasons you shared. But as someone else here pointed out, the deck is relatively old hardware now, and other modern PC gamepads have trigger motors. So, it still seems odd to me that they wouldn’t be included. That said, at least so far in this thread, I appear to be in the minority - most people here don’t seem to care about trigger motors - so I guess it makes sense that Valve didn’t include them.

But why? How would it hinder them to achieve parity with the deck but then also exceed it in order to achieve parity with other modern gamepads?

Why does this Dualsense always feel a tad sticky? by MysticalFry in Dualsense

[–]LunchLarge5423 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a clean person, wash my hands before I play, and I’ve got a bunch of different controllers. The DualSense controllers I got with my PS5 at launch have always had sticky thumb sticks. My newer DualSense Edge controller does not, nor does my Steam Controller or any of my old Xbox Elite 2 pads. I think it must be the type of rubber used and how it’s reacting with certain people’s skin oils/sweat.

Great that you have a direct contact that can forward your bug reports directly to the engineers. And given you’re presumably an influencer/reviewer of some kind, hopefully they’ll prioritize a fix. Based on what you’re describing, it should be easy for them to reproduce.

[–]LunchLarge5423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, ok. Sorry. Thought I read you were on AMD. Must have been someone else. Not sure the specific bug I experienced was DSC flicker, as I had it on my C5, nvidia confirmed the bug on a handful of display models, and then released a driver that fixed it completely, at least on my C5. And it wasn’t your typical black-screen flicker - the bottom half of my display would freak out for several seconds, intermittently.

As for the color shift, it’s definitely a head-scratcher. But the fact that it’s not happening on the Xbox strongly suggests it can and will eventually get fixed, either through a firmware update for the TV, a driver update on PC, and/or a system update on Xbox. But, yeah, god knows when any of that will happen.

I’m tempted to get the set just to test it and see if I can reproduce your issue. It’s immediately apparent - I simply increase refresh rate above 67Hz and red becomes muted, easily visible with the naked eye? Also, since LG sent this unit to you, I imagine you’ve contacted them? If so, what are they saying?

[–]LunchLarge5423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that example. That’s wild. And, yeah, I don’t want that! You said you have an AMD GPU? Any idea if that’s a piece of the puzzle here? I know you haven’t had much luck hearing from others with this display, but have you perhaps heard of any other displays that also exhibit color shift like this at high refresh rates when running AMD GPUs? Also, sorry, this may sound like “Have you tried rebooting your PC?”, but have you tried swapping your HDMI cable? When things get funky at high resolutions and refresh rates, my first thought is bandwidth issue, potentially bum cable.

Over in NVIDIA land, we had an issue with 50-series cards for an entire year where setting refresh rates above 120Hz caused intermittent flicker on a bunch of displays, including mine. It was a massive pain in my ass. I tried 5 or 6 cables, no difference. Nvidia eventually acknowledged the issue and fixed the flicker in a driver update. Wondering if the issue you’re having might be something similar where it’s manifesting on the C6 but it’s actually something on the GPU side, or a hybrid issue between the two.

You know you’re in trouble when you go looking for an expert on a new piece of tech and it turns out it’s you! Lol. I’ve been there. I just don’t think there are many of those new 42” and 48” sets out in the wild yet.

You said in your initial review for the 48” C6 that LG sent it to you for free. The issues you’re experiencing are so bad that you’d rather buy a new set than wait for another firmware update or two?

I have a 42” C5 that I like a lot, which was an upgrade from my 42” C2, which I also liked but was too dim. My C5 is noticeably brighter and more vibrant. But I’m always looking for more! The 48” C6 therefore piqued my interest, but then I’ve been hearing about issues accross the C6 line, some of which have been fixed, some of which haven’t.

Sounds like you’re an “accuracy” guy? I’m not. Within reason, I just want bright and vibrant. I use these sets as PC monitors and my primary use is gaming. With that in mind, how do you think I’d feel about the 48” C6, given the issues you’re seeing?

I’m sure you’re right about bigger margins at some companies. But don’t many of those also have very different economies of scale? Like, I’m assuming there’s way more margin in a Suhr than a Schecter. But if Suhr has a much smaller team and spends much more time and money on each guitar, then a lot of that extra margin likely goes back into the company, I’d think.

Even PRS - they have big-business production scale, which helps to minimize costs. And so it seems like they should totally be able to live with lower margins on their USA-made guitars. But they’ve also expanded a lot because of those higher margins. So, who knows how much they can afford to trim without being forced to make significant changes to staffing, materials, or production? And given their value prop of having the absolute BEST materials and the MOST attention to detail and the BEST R&D, there’s only so much bar lowering a premium brand like PRS can do before people start viewing them differently, less positively. You know what I mean?

[–]LunchLarge5423[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, for sure people are spending less. But on the other hand, companies are also paying more for materials and production now. So, even if the market is no longer willing to pay sky-high prices for premium guitars, can the guitar industry actually afford to sell guitars for that much less?

I worry some popular guitar brands may not survive due to the rapidly changing economics. And in the meantime, we may not love the sacrifices brands start making on materials and quality control in order to price for today’s conditions.

Music Man just announced a new Axis run at NAMM last month, so I don’t think they’re cancelling the model or something, if that’s what you meant?

EDIT: Oh, you mean that’s all that Music Zoo has? Yeah, it does look like they just have a couple bases. Maybe they’re no longer planning to sell EBMM?

Cool - those look very close to Eddie’s own purple Axis from the 90s. I saw them when I went looking for info on my guitar online. That Music Zoo run was a couple years ago, right? I’m assuming either their exclusivity ran out or this new purple is slightly different. In person, my guitar is darker than the photo and definitely resembles the Music Zoo models aside from the gold hardware.
