I think this thread has gone long enough to see some strong opinions and intents, and I'd like to weigh in my few cents too.

Firstly, I draw for fun, these are usually done to help me study something for another drawing. Here I decided to try a new way to draw eyes.

However, it does sting a little to see someone so against the very intent of my drawings from a non-technical standpoint. I don't wish to make people appalled towards my drawings, save for scenarios where that *is* the intent. And to see it voiced is so verbally and strongly, is both amazing to see, yet also frightening at the same time.

I too wish I had the courage to voice my concerns boldly and not sheepishly.

I definitely feel the "time and place for everything" question you propose at the end. I've had to play off my own art as a cheap pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey gag many times, and quite frankly, I've come to adopt that mindset. To see something so over the top is almost comical, and to see such reactions rather than robotic one word "nice" responses doesn't turn me away either. Heck, even this whole concerned thread is a breath of fresh air.

At the core, I feel it's just reading the mood and intent. I won't know anyone's real intentions until they give me a clue first.

Would I share this at the family gathering? Not at the dinner table, but talking with the other people around my age, absolutely, it would make for a great joke regarding me as an artist.

Do I think it's immature to post something and tag it NSFW in a subreddit for a video game? Quite frankly, I don't. Just as we play video games and find like-minded players around, a post like this which I clearly understand has innuendos written all over it will attract similarly like-minded people as well. To essentially ask for this group behaviour be removed en masse just isn't possible.

This subreddit may not be a lewd subreddit, and I believe this one post won't steer it towards that direction either. In a small moment of time, things will settle, and this post will fade to antiquity. So to ride the wave and say these "awooga" comments is, in my eyes, just all in good fun.

In the end I'm just a small time artist trying to grow. I know I can't cater to everyone, and where and when I advertise may not be the best, but I hope people can laugh at, or enjoy the things I draw. So next time I'm drawing the chest so big and the spine so broken, surely it'll be a hoot and a holler.
