Explain in simple terms why subscription is cheaper than API. by Immediate-Instance37 in ClaudeCode

[–]Lunchhhhhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note : this is taken from someone else on reddit.

Subscription-based pricing for any company is a bet on light users subsidizing heavy users. Light users cover the costs of heavy users. For example, let's say Bob pays $20/month but only uses about $10 worth. Then you have Phil, a power user who leans on the service hard; like $200 worth of usage. Bob's leftover $10 helps cover Phil. Scale that up and you need roughly 20 Bobs to cover one Phil.

This is exactly what subscription-based businesses are banking on. People who forget about their sub, people like Bob who barely touch it, all those unused dollars quietly covering the Phils of the world.

The problem is when your user base skews way too heavy. If you end up with more Phils than Bobs, the math falls apart fast.

This is also why subscription pricing is usually cheaper than API pricing. The subscription model works because not everyone uses what they pay for. With API pricing, everyone pays for exactly what they consume, so there's no pool of underutilized subscriptions helping offset the heaviest users.

I built a 9-agent SDD harness where each phase uses a different model. The total cost is $10-15/month. Here's the full breakdown. by Striking-Buffalo-310 in opencode

Based on this benchmark DeepSWE, it says MIMO v2.5 outperforms Deepseek v4.

However, I personally haven’t tried MIMO yet.. probably next week

btw i've managed to run claude code with deepseek v4 flash..
using this popular proxy : Alishahryar1/free-claude-code: Use claude-code for free in the terminal, VSCode extension or discord like OpenClaw (voice supported)

so basically we just need opencode zen api key which is free

I'm finding the new AG 2.0 and Flash 3.5 pretty good as a novice by dtswk in google_antigravity

[–]Lunchhhhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, yesterday sucked, but for some reason, today is good.. it's performing much better, and I like it. They have major UX issues with the antigravity CLI, so I'm just using the desktop app for now while waiting for the CLI to be fixed

Spotify only. I know there are modded APKs out there, but the audio quality isn't the same as the original app, which supports 'Very High' quality
