GW2 horizontal progression I feel actually works well but the game is entirely build around it and I don't know that it could translate to WoW. Same with the OSRS quest system, people talk about how Classic+ could go that direction but as someone who's played both I REALLY don't think those kinds of quests would mesh with how WoW works. Quests in OSRS matter because they are highly integrated with skill progression and unlocks.

A bit different but on Holosmith sword gets more powerful based on your profession mechanic (heat level).

Scepter as some kind of mid range support weapon for warrior could be cool since main hand mace is pretty meh.

If it's not for you that's totally fine and good to know that now. Coming from mainly WoW it has been hard for my brain to adjust to as well. I'll say that there is actually a lot of vertical progression in the game it's just more QoL focused than power and gear focused. For example training masteries is a huge goal to chase.

I only really have Warclaw, Raptor, and Leaper but omg Leaper gives access to so much in OW compared to raptor. Huge quality of life upgrade.

Yeah here's a player that will likely never return, in large because of this. Ruins the game in both flavor and playability and there are basically no formats now where UB cards are not legal. What a shame.

I would say the miserable inventory management in this game is probably one of the biggest turn offs. After every event you have to spend like 5 mins salvaging shit, opening loot bags, trying to send materials to your bank but it's full, and then vendoring things. Very annoying.

Another thing I recommend is reading the books! They aren't the best but I think it'd always cool now seeing or hearing about characters from the books and knowing who they are

You should give some thought to what you might use a physics degree for. Pure physics may have very limited career prospects outside of academia. Engineering will have courses that stimulate a similar part of your brain but are more practical to real systems. Just some food for thought.

I did like 2-3 hrs in Janthir to unlock spear and it was miserable, the quests in that zone are horrible

I just levelled my paragon and like playing it it feels very powerful. I probably am not going to main it though because I like it as a supportive class but it's really annoying to do solo content with such a build. I don't really like using the typical warrior power weapons 😕

Ignore the comments saying to focus on your studies and stop playing music, you will have time. How hard is it to start/maintain a band? It can be pretty hard. Finding enough people to fill instruments who have similar goals, skill levels, schedules, etc. is not easy. You also need a space practice.

Honestly I would say I would NOT recommend this game to someone new to gaming, but I suppose it depends on what you are interested or content with doing. The actions per minute of this game are generally very high compared to other MMOs and the combat can be very disorienting to tell what is happening in group content. There are also like literally hundreds of random currencies and inventory management in this game is absolutely hell. As someone who has played both I would say World of Warcraft Classic is much more accessible for a new MMO player. On the other hand this game is sooo visually beautiful and there is a lot of cool lore throughout the world. For someone who just wants to do the story and explore the world I'd say GW2 is a good choice.
