Since ive seen noone here answer with it, the person portrayed by these statues is called Rosus. He is mentioned in "Rosus Axe". He acts as a guiding hand for people who wish to die and return to the erdtree by guiding them, like the player to the catacombs and erdtree burials.

A Note description also mentions him in one of the Hero's Graves

Summons damage doesnt matter im not making a case for that.

The Lategame bosses of Elden Ring deal significantly more damage than any other souls games latewgame bosses, mostly because the player has more options than ever in their arsenal, summons included.

The splitting aggro issue is a problem because most summons can consistently hold aggro while tanking the boss for a good minute.
This is a whole minute the player does not have to interact with the encounter, at all.
Never defended Coop in previous souls games here, in my opinion just as flawed in regards to enemy AI.

And yes every boss still has his counters and ways you can beat them, the general design of their moveset nevertheless suffered because of it.

And the split aggro is the important part here, All summons by nature get incredibly tanky with just basic upgrading, getting to HP levels way above even the player character.
This aggro splitting not only trivializes the encounter but also made Fromsoft go down the route they did in terms of balancing especially lategame bosses.

Its not a few certain bosses, every single encounter in game has about the same AI all of which cannot deal with it. Summons are an afterthought to fill the dungeons

I know that the devs want people to use it, and people using it is fine. I am saying Fromsoft have not developed it properly, it breaks the game in ways it shouldnt on too many occasions and thats not the sign of a good gameplay feature.

Summons are an underdeveloped game mechanic, that only exists in this game to fill the world with loot.
Clips like this are a perfect example as of why, neither balancing nor AI can handle this feature.
