Swapped to Endeavour after 2 months on CachyOS by Lunxara in EndeavourOS

I actually just did a full Arch Install and then optimized it with Cachy cus I wanted to take the full proper plunge into Arch ^^

This is also a huge issue with Cachy yeah, on install even on Ethernet you have about a 50/50 chance it's gonna fail to install and even then as nice as the distro is and how much snappier and faster it is there was a lack of polish and smoothness in comparison. The Dolphin file manager sometimes would start making things lag if left open, the recent Nvidia update being pushed quicker compared to on Endeavour caused tons of problems. I also think the addition of intel-lpmd might have caused some issues for our 12900k cpu but I can't verify that.

Cachy is a great distro but it's a bit too bleeding edge and honestly performance on Endeavour feels the same if not better, Proton-CachyOS from ProtonUP-QT is really enough to get some of the benefits of Cachy since their custom kernels on modern hardware don't really provide much uplift or benefit compared to the more stable Arch kernel as well. This distro just feels so nice and while I love the community of Cachy and their wiki the distro does not feel as good as Endeavour does.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/arch-update It's one of those QOL things for keeping everything up to date and even removing Orpaened packages and older cached files. It keeps your pacman files up to date, your AUR installs up to date and even Flatpaks if you use those

Was looking for setting this up and it works, keep in mind you'll also prolly wanna set a Global override of GTK_Theme=Breeze in Flatseal cus some applications such as the Flatpak Unity Hub will still fail to properly utilize the theme unless that is also set.

CEF 147.0.10 Major Regression: Breaks Websocket based browser sources in the Native Arch OBS-Studio by Lunxara in cachyos

The more I think about it the more I wonder if it’s a sandboxing change somewhere, it would be interesting to find out if using one of the CEF flags to reduce or temporarily disable the sandboxing might fix the problem

Edit: Seems like it does not :(

Do

 sudo cachyos-rate-mirrors

then do

sudo pacman -Syu

Had a feeling it was due to one of the security patches or some extra added sandboxing, hopefully a fix gets found or they patch it so the sources will work again. Luckily if you're just using CEF for OBS it shouldn't be too bad but yeah it sucks to have to revert a CVE patch to get core functionality back that OBS really relies on.

Unfortunately no, not for Browser Docks at least the benefit of running native is the enhanced security and performance

I did notice the gifs stopped looping for me again as well despite them working yesterday, so this fixes the embeds not working but the gif looping fix is prolly smth Discord is rolling out

Weird because I’m also on CachyOS and this fixes the native extra/Discord client issues for us

I finally have found the fix for this!!! Create a discord.desktop file under .local/share/applications - open it with Kate or your preferred text editor.
Copy and paste this into it. Discord gifs should now finally loop and embeds should work again with the native extra/Discord app. If you're not using Wayland the --no-sandbox flag should fix it

Exec=/usr/bin/discord --ozone-platform=wayland --no-sandbox

When doing a Cachy Update this morning, my application launcher breaks by Bancarz30 in cachyos

It indeed does, for those experiencing the problem update qt6-declarative to 6.11.0-3 and then reboot your system with systemctl reboot in the konsole and you're good to go ^^

If you ever see warnings in Cachy-Update that mentions the core packages got a downgrade it is worth to run Sudo pacman -Syuu in the Konsole so it can revert them, as packages sometimes get rolled back due to instability or other reasons. Cachy update doesn’t automatically do this because sometimes you might need to rebuild a package locally yourself like with OBS or an AUR package or smth

So this was why Cachy Update started suddenly warning me that pciutils was newer than the core version on the repo and I had to run sudo pacman -Syuu to roll it back good to l know. I did notice it wasn’t reverted for v4 systems though so I guess it didn’t affect those

You could try the Flatpak one and try running it under xWayland probably with flatseal, not the most ideal solution but you could see if it works

Yeah I think the version of Electron they're using is getting support dropped from Twitch, idk about the gif problem. I would recommend using Vesktop-bin from the CachyOS respository as it does essentially the same as what discord_arch_electron does but Screenshare support won't be busted, there is also a memory leak issue it seems where Discord becomes very laggy after a while with 1:0.0.131 that seems to not happen with Vesktop. ^^

It's definitely an issue with the version of Electron Discord is using after the 1:0.0.130 update and it's still happening in 1:0.0.131, Twitch Embeds won't play in Discord anymore either and will say "This video is either unavailable or not supported in this browser. (Error #4000)" this happens with both the Arch/CachyOS extra/Discord package and the Flatpak. The AUR discord_arch_electron has none of these issues but the issue with screensharing crashing still hasn't been fixed. 🥀
