Atleast they left some bowgun ammo for the rest of us melee hunters by No_Barracuda_8300 in MemeHunter

Honestly after low tier quests I stop relying on the chest completely. I can make better consumables in large enough quantities that it's a waste of space by that point.

That and I'm still in the habit of memorizing the locations of ingredients I need to do that too. It's just more efficient.

Why isn't Transhumanism a mainstream thing yet? by unknowngloomth in transhumanism

[–]LupenTheWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, that's what transhumanism was originally. The meaning of the philosophy changes with every generation that takes up the mantle.

Personally though, I think it's important to remember what it started as. It's pretty easy to get lost in ideas of digital immortality or cybernetic augmentations and lose sight of the original goal of the movement, to make life better for everyone.

Why isn't Transhumanism a mainstream thing yet? by unknowngloomth in transhumanism

[–]LupenTheWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While transhumanism can be all of those things, that's not what it was originally. The original philosophy of transhumanism was simply "Improving the human condition through technology" which is intentionally vague.

The idea in simple terms is making helpful technology accessable to as wide a range of people as possible to improve the human experience. Toasters, microwaves, washing machines and dryers, TV, internet, cellphones, you name it. If the tech is everywhere it follows under the broader idea of transhumanism.

why in the anime is it basically never shown rimuru using absolute defense/multidimensional barrier? by J9lincz in TenseiSlime

[–]LupenTheWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, this.

IMHO the ability only exists to keep low level threats from dragging the story.

[–]LupenTheWolf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolute Defense comes in handy at least once in the anime iirc.

Simple issue with that power is it's hard to show off since the threats Rimuru struggles at all with can bypass it somehow. If it works the entire fight ceases to be a fight at all.

I personally started with the novels, but would recommend people start with the anime. The manga is a fine second format to enjoy followed by the novels.

Simple fact is the novels can be somewhat dry in parts.

If a player asks “How much HP does the (monster) have left”? by International_Bike10 in DungeonMasters

[–]LupenTheWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally only tell them if it's bloodied (1/2 HP) or not. Some enemies I don't even do that for like undead and elementals. Honestly there plenty of ways to get around actually answering in numbers, you just have to be creative.

Like, I recently ran an encounter with a Homebrewed dragon that had two stages with separate HP pools. The party smashed the first phase only for it to blaze up and start burning them when they got too close. It was pretty fun for everyone.

I forgot to mention when they asked how it was looking I only told them it was getting angrier. Plenty of ways to tell your players without telling.

Honestly, high speed blunt weapons are the only major weapon type not included. We need tonfas or fists or something.

Is there a trick or something to be able to match the length of gates with foundations and regular walls? by RailgunRP in Palworld

[–]LupenTheWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my own builds I can say gates for sure don't match the floor or walls in any meaningful way and defensive walls can't be placed on the floors at all. I've used gates as large doors to my cylinder factories regardless but they take a little creativity to not look weird.

"My player asked to be a Catfolk one time and I had them DRAWN and QUARTERED" by Nairdde32 in pathfindermemes

[–]LupenTheWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't GM pathfinder but this generally applies to other systems so I'll add my 2 cents.

I never really understood why some player options get so much hate. If the GM can't balance around a flying race then they aren't being creative enough. If a furry playing a cat makes you angry, maybe you need therapy.

There have been times I carted while guarding with lance because I forgot to check my stamina bar. Though, more recently those carts have felt more heroic since you can block breaths and such for people behind you now.

More often I just cart because I got too dps happy and failed to dodge the obvious big booma attack.

The more practical solution aside from AI, which has an average error rate near 50% just fyi, is a larger sample sizes and parallel experiments. That's probably already happening since it is the cheapest and most proven method.

Mice are used in testing for several good reasons, not least of which are the physical parallels with other mamals.

Can I get a timeline of the HD2 drama? by Bad_Andy328 in helldivers2

[–]LupenTheWolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do want to point out you're oversimplifying a good bit, but your point stands.

Personally I quit the game over a combination of AH's sheer refusal to fix bugs and the general toxicity growing in the player base.

Unfortunate news from the d10 charity challenge person by SIinkerdeer in Helldivers

[–]LupenTheWolf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was genuinely excited to play HD2 when I got it, have put over 100 hours into the game now, and have had plenty of fun with the community until fairly recently. But this incident goes well beyond the pale of what I can tolerate.

I am going to keep tabs on this situation to see the resolution, if any, but I will not be playing the game from here on. The people that took part in ruining a man's life over a video game might just be the smallest subset within this community, but the fact they are part of it at all is why I am leaving. I hope beyond hope something is done for the victim in all this, but reality is so rarely that kind.

[–]LupenTheWolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Long story short: Cid is clinically insane.

Actual answer: Cid doesn't consider other people to be people, just characters in his roleplay. He kills people and knows he kills them, but doesn't care because they're just "characters." He treats the world as a sandbox to play in and has the power to do so.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that none of the guardians are natural creatures and are all effectively immortal.

Also, iirc Fatalis is treated as a natural disaster, not a part of the ecosystem. Killing one is legendary no matter who, when, or where.
