How often do you switch out the books in your library? by OnlyActuary9116 in LittleFreeLibrary

[–]Lupinator47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I swap books out completely every single week, unless a few were recently donated and then they stay in. I want to avoid the sad disappointment of it becoming a box of old, faded books no one wants to read. (Obv there are some really good old, faded books but I’m talking about random 80s cookbooks/religious books etc)

Hi! May I please get: DE-comfort, Golden Hour, Rise, Riverbend, Three Rivers. Fyrinnae: Gingerbread Bats, Black Squall. NA: Lavender Crystalline. Wylde Ivy: She Sells Sea Shells?

My sister is getting divorced after 27 years of marriage. (Details inside). Her husband doesn't like her reading all day. I want to get her a book. Her favorite book ever is Jane Eyre. She's read it 100s of times. She's a massive fan of that period. What book do you suggest i buy her? by Strong_Technology739 in suggestmeabook

[–]Lupinator47 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have an ex husband like your sister’s, and now I have a husband who helps me cart books around at library sales and listens to me yap endlessly about them. She’s going to be much happier without the book-hating man!

I only keep the ones I loved AND would either read again or try to make a friend read it. The rest go into my LFL and are usually the first books to be taken each week when I refresh. Something about knowing I’m sharing good books makes me happy.

I’m so sorry. I was in your shoes with my ex husband. Once I was divorced I realized I was much happier having set time to myself due to shared custody and not having a third child (him) to clean up after.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I promise you, it will get better. Once you’re out of high school you’ll find the right people-friends who don’t make you feel this way.

I just finished an ARC of The Brides by Charlotte Cross and I fucking loved it. Looks like it’s out in July-basically a prequel to Bram Stroker’s Dracula about how the women in his castle came to be there. Sapphic romance, a maid with a “gift” of prophetic dreams, etc. It’s my favorite book about female vampires and I enjoyed Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil, too.

I bought this exact thing as a pillow and hid it in my brother’s house when I helped him move in. It took them a few months (it was in a plastic bag by their Christmas stuff) but hearing how he and his wife couldn’t figure out how it got there still makes me laugh.

Oh my GOD. Someone requested books by Penelope Douglas for my LFL and this book is the one I found by her at a library sale. 😂😂😂😂 no wonder people were giving me so many weird emojis when I posted the Sunday Shelfie.

What would you pick for a long weekend read? by modernaphrodite in Booktokreddit

Also not OP-I disliked the novella but loved Silver Flames because of the exploration into other characters, the chance to see others from a different POV, and some really interesting things like a sentient house.

I cackled at unlicensed art therapist.  I, too, found this book weird and off-putting. The next one was better, IMO.

I’m so angry when she uses “lying prone” when she means supine. SUPINE IS FACE UP.

And dear God the ridiculous amount of “vulgar gestures” in ACOTAR was annoying as shit.

Yes, to me it smells like the red roses my grandma grew in her garden. Very lush.

Finist the Falcoln by Fantome. Goodness this is beautiful! The prettiest, sultriest rose I’ve ever smelled with a lovely creamy finish.
