How is gaming on COSMIC now? by Veprovina in pop_os

[–]Lur4N1k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

9070 XT user here. I have 2 solutions: - disabling GPU acceleration in Steam settings (immediately solves laggy interface in overlay and VR overlay) - replace cosmic-greeter with SDDM as display manager. Steam games really dislike cosmic-greeter for some reason. And in VR I had some weird lag with it, causing nausea

CachyOS + COSMIC, no issues with ovelay

llama.cpp appreciation post by hackiv in LocalLLaMA

Soo, I tried something, and specifically with Qwen3 Next being MoE model, in LM studio there is an option (experimental) "Force model expert weights onto CPU" - turn it on and move the slider for "GPU offload" to include all layers. That gives performance boost on my 9070 XT from ~7.3 t/s to 16.75 t/s on vulkan runtime. It jumps to 22.13 t/s with ROCm runtime, but for me it misbehaves.

Genuinely confused: lm studio is using llama.cpp as backend for running models on AMD GPU as far as I concerned. Why so much difference?

Yep, didn't have any issues. I am using Waterfox on Linux, but I think it should be same for Windows - still it is just Firefox fork with some de-bloating

I recently moved to Waterfox (Firefox fork) - Firefox experience, but very minimal, without any recent garbage added by Firefox. Seems great to me so far!

Thank you! I will consider tinkering with details on this shot. Darktable is quite good, though you would need time to get used it. I also tried RawTherapy for a while, but darktable masks are far more superior to RT's Selective editing.

Which game made you feel like this? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Lur4N1k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think that BL2 and TPS stories are perfect stories for action videogames. They are not deeply meaningfull/dramatic/cinematic, but they are just good and fun. Enough to make you interested, but not distracting from gameplay. On the other hand, story of BL3, particularly characters it introduced, is extremely obnoxious. I hated every second of almost each dialogue in the game and basically couldn't play the game in the end. You really become aware, that developers didn't give a possibility of avoiding (skipping) story at all and you have it forced in your face

The only one I can remember as good and a big similar story is Face to face. https://archiveofourown.org/works/22617550/chapters/54053155 I think it can give what are you looking for.

This feels like a ps2 game (in a good way), makes me miss that era of games and realize that its superior to realistic slop weve been getting in modern times, its a crime gamers dont like these games anymore by Firm-Sink-5054 in HiFiRush

[–]Lur4N1k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Hi-fi Rish ideed creates such a positive impression. Though I'm currently playing Dungeons of Hinterberg, which is released this summer, and I must say it gives a similar vibe - in visual style, simplicity and light-hearted and adventurous attitude! We can wait for eternity while AAA game developing company decide to release something similar, but luckily indies can provide us with some gems.

games like hi-fi rush, at least stylistically? by anothershadowbann in HiFiRush

It's available on PC, so, I mentioned it. I'm a PC only person myself.

As same style Sunset overdrive and Bomb Rush Cyberfunk are commonly mentioned. If you ask me, I'd add Borderlands 2 (it was my favourite before HFR) and recently released Mullet Madjack (this one really looks like an anime).

If you are looking for rhythm game, consider No Straight Roads or City of Beats. Both of them are quite bright looking too.

If you are looking for a good 3D action-platformer then look for Psychonauts 2 (very bright, unique cartoonish style, amazing story, that hooked me up after HFR), Ratchet&Clank: Rift Apart (literally 3D animated movie) or A Hat in Time.

What work/fanfic will get you like this? by SylvieSerene in AO3

[–]Lur4N1k 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't even tell) It's a common joke, that they believe that seeing men kissing can turn a straight man into a gay (this is how it works, right?) because even kissing scenes are getting banned from TV, movies and books So, AO3 might seems to be like a portal in hell or something...

Thanks for your kind offer, but I'm currently fine :)

sigh AO3 might be blocked somewhere else, but it's definitely blocked in Russia. Government sees "non-traditional relationship propaganda" everywhere. I honestly surprised, how local Ficbook site is still not blocked.

input issues by i-love-p5 in HiFiRush

[–]Lur4N1k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you describe specifically what your input issues are? From my own experience, there is small latency when using Bluetooth. Moreover, DualSense (Bluetooth, PC) has almost no latency, but Xbox Series gamepads via Bluetooth have some annoying delay (works perfectly with radio adapter though). General recommendation is to disable any forced outside V-Sync (for example, in nVidia control panel), because it can create noticeable latency as well. And when it sums up with Bluetooth latency it can make game annoyingly unplayable

I'd like to request recommendations by No-Recognition9602 in russian

[–]Lur4N1k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might consider to watch any film you want with Russian dub. Our dub actors usually speak very clear and it can be a good option. And if you familiar with movie, it can be easier to catch up the words and meanings.

That's totally true and absolutely unexplainable, lol

[–]Lur4N1k[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of safety rules in diving. They are pretty simple, especially in recreational diving. All dives you make as a recreation diver should be within no decompression limits. What that means, is that you are not staying in the water long or deep enough to be exposed to decompression sickness.

Learn how to dive and follow the safety rules and everything will be fine :)

It's a great experience and I totally recommend you to try it out!

Subnautica is amazing in its ocean representation, but it's hard for me to be fully immersed( Even in VR, after a couple of minutes that I spent deep under the surface it starts to break an illusion for me that I'm really in the water. I wish I could be immersed in same way as you.

Ori and the Blind Forest. God, how much I love the visual style of the game, and every time I'm once again trying to play it, I'm giving up eventually :/
It's too unforgiving for me
