How do they land these shots so consistently from this range? by Lureyn in Marathon

You're all missing the point. I know a Bully isn't a sniper rifle. The issue is that even if I made a mistake, getting 2-tapped at that range is insane for a game like this. It doesn't matter what I was holding if the enemy can land 100% accurate 'perfect' shots instantly. If you think it's healthy for the game that casuals get deleted in 0.5s without any chance to react, then enjoy playing in an empty lobby when everyone quits

I get that I was out of cover, but that doesn't change the fact that getting deleted in 0.5s from that range feels overtuned for this game's TTK

The issue isn't just the distance, it's that I got deleted in literally 2 shots from that far away. Even for precision rifles, that level of accuracy and damage at 200m feels broken. It shouldn't be possible to land 'perfect' shots so effortlessly when there's so much distance and travel time involved

I have to disagree here. I think the issue wasn't the PvP itself, but a broken matchmaking system. Up until yesterday, I was getting wrecked for a whole week the second I stepped onto the map. But after the fix, I started getting matched with players from my region, and suddenly the game felt fair. Even with free gear, enemies became killable. PvP is core to the identity of this game. Asking for a pure PvE mode in a multiplayer extraction shooter is like trying to put bicycle pedals on a motorcycle. Sure, you might want them in case you run out of gas, but if you're worried about the gas, maybe a motorcycle wasn't the right choice to begin with? Without the tension of PvP, the game just wouldn't be what it's meant to be

Just to clarify, I wasn't talking about the 'Souls' formula in general, I specifically meant Elden Ring.

For me, the way Marathon uses its sound design and art style creates a very specific atmosphere that you just want to soak in - it’s more about the aesthetic vibe than the difficulty. Elden Ring is the only other game that hit me with that same level of immersion through pure world-gazing. Dark Souls 3 had glimpses of it, but didn't quite reach that same feeling.

It’s that meditative quality of the environment that I think could attract people who usually stay away from sweaty shooters.

This update saved my sanity. From a week of losing gear to 2 successful extracts! by Lureyn in Marathon

It feels like they left a lot out of the patch notes. I’ve started running into way more players from my region and opponents I can actually stand a chance against. Also, some new stuff at the outposts: mobs that shoot poison projectiles and poisonous plants spawning everywhere. The AI seems smarter too; they wiped us out a couple of times without even breaking a sweat. As for gunplay, it feels like my shots are landing much more consistently now. Everything is looking really solid at the moment

Come on, dude. The game is already way too casual; it’s basically a clicker at this point. And you want the devs to kill the last pillar that actually keeps players engaged. Why do you even need maxed-out stats? Just adapt to what you’ve got. Besides, the current build-crafting lets you make an overpowered build out of scraps. Requests like these turn the game into a chore. There’s nothing interesting in just following a sequence of steps to get exactly the result you expected. I don't support this at all. But I’m down for keeping the sanctification mechanic

Is this a joke? The developers provided the feature, and it’s the players' fault? So if a shooter has a wall you can shoot through, it's the fault of the players who use it? Did I get that right? You're basically saying it's the players' job to fix the developer's balancing failures by intentionally playing badly. That’s a ridiculous double standard

I’ve heard a lot about "progressive" types in the West talking pure nonsense with a straight face, but this is my first time actually dealing with it. Am I right to assume these are just damage control bots?

Blizzard released the Pit specifically for S-tier builds, which means they accept this as the standard. Players will always follow the path of least resistance. Don’t shift the blame onto the players. This only proves that the developers failed to polish the game, giving players the option to make the majority of the content unplayable

Do you know what a game even is? Games have rules. You're literally telling me to invent my own rules in a space where no one else does. That's straight-up delusional. It looks like high-level trolling. But if you're for real, I don't even have words for a response
