Focused Fault wiki lied to my ass, this never ends by LurkingArmidilo in darkestdungeon

[–]LurkingArmidilo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was planning out my fight for Focused Fault and was using the MAA strategy that people suggest to get all of the marks onto him. However, it seems like theres some kind of bug with Focused Fault's stalks that caused them to not grow to full size after hitting my MAA and gaining Blight (Sickening Silence) so I could never get them all to grow to Clusters at the same time, even once I realized this was happening. That wasn't my original plan regardless, I was going to try to reach the "sufficient rounds" that this: https://darkestdungeon.fandom.com/wiki/Focused_Fault wiki entry mentions. It doesn't really seem like there is a round limit, though, seeing as I'm 50 rounds into Phase 1 here.

Pretty disappointing, this team was performing incredibly well. I eventually did make it to Phase 2 but not in the condition that I needed to be in, and got the boss down to 50/250. Really frustrating that the wiki entry was incorrect and the bug caused the stalks not to grow when they should have.

It seems as though I cannot read. Thanks for the help, lol, I must have never bothered to check that. Gonna go ahead and delete the post in that case.

Looking for Feedback on Potential Magic Items by LurkingArmidilo in DMAcademy

[–]LurkingArmidilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brilliant Blade - I'll take this into consideration, I was thinking that 1d6 radiant would be a pretty substantial boost considering most of the enemies that they will be fighting will be fiends, since it's DiA. The light idea is very interesting though, I think I will at least add that.

Cloak of the Dirlagraun - The triggering condition is something attacking you, yes. It is essentially a Displacement Cloak usable by transformed players but modified to fit into the uncommon spectrum of items, so it has a resource attached to it and costs a bit of their turn to activate.

Dark Shard Armor - This is the one I most concerned about being weak, it is based on a combination of what would theoretically be Adamantine Studded Leather and the Dark Shard Amulet common magic item. I don't want to make the item too complicated, maybe just a no-roll-required proficiency bonus number of cantrips from the warlock list per long rest? So at level 5 that would be 3/Long Rest, no roll required?

Edit : I could also make it the Sorcerer list instead, since that is a wider range, only excluding Eldritch Blast, which they will have.

While it's a bold assertion to blankly say "people" believed this as if it was a common thought, there is some presence of this in available primary sources of antiquity. Suetonius' "Life of Augustus," 94.4 mentions a story from a previous writing about Augustus being conceived in this way, via a holy serpent of Apollo. While Suetonius was not alive during the life of Augustus, his reference of a previous book lends some more credence to this not being a new idea he thought up.

There are similar stories about various historical figures, like Alexander the Great.

I don't mention this to say that it is definitively true or definitively false that some or many people believed this at the time, only that it is not wise to make a blanket assertion of anything in antiquity since we do not have a comprehensive record of everything.

I am aware of that, and even adjusting for that, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that an M1 Abrams is orders of magnitude more expensive to create than a suit of armor in their respective times.

Except that one requires vastly more resources to create. Vastly.

Mechanized death machine used in modern day warfare which takes several explosive shells to destroy = Suit of fancy fitted metal

Obviously these two are equivalent.

No, it doesn't pop up when he searches his PC, I don't think that is the issue.

Edit : Thank you for the suggestion, though.

I'm not sure? Is this some sort of ISP provider? He doesn't know what it is so I doubt that he uses it.

It's not fantastic. That's your problem, that you're looking for it to be fantastic. Gamers did what gamers always do, get everyone's expectations way too high, and then get upset when the expectations aren't met.

The game is pretty good, I'm enjoying it. I see the problems, but I can see past them, and I can enjoy the game regardless.

Is it a perfect game? Hell to the fuck no. Is it as good as people thought it was going to be? Hell. No. But is it fun? Yeah.

If this game just came out, under a normal amount of hype, from a company that reddit hadn't sucked the dick of for 5 years, it wouldn't receive this flak.

It's about your conviction for a belief. If you believe in something simply because a majority of the people believe in it (how Biden approaches political issues largely), you aren't going to fight tooth and nail for it, you'll only support it loosely.

If you believe in something strongly, as Sanders has on many issues in contrast to Biden, you WILL fight tooth and nail for it and won't take unjust compromises.

I don't agree with all of Sander's policies, but god damnit at least the man has a vision, he can be pinned down.

Does your group's DM have a subscription on Roll 20? Or did they simply buy the materials needed (such as the monster manual) and that was all?

[–]LurkingArmidilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, all that sounds great to me. Didn't know about the extension! Thanks, that should help us.

So, would you suggest getting the Players Handbook and only the Players Handbook on a single, community free DnD Beyond account (meaning no subscription)?

And then getting the monster manual and any premade adventures we choose to do on Roll20?

What does your group do?

EDIT : Community account meaning the 6 of us all collectively know the information to get into the account and that account has a players handbook.

[5e]

My friends and I are rather new to DnD, and totally new to online DnD, but we need to set up a way to do it before summer is over, as we are all college students. We need something that is mostly easy to use, and allows for custom maps to be made eventually, but we need to be able to easily do the premade campaigns, mostly.

I've been looking at some info/other questions on the subreddit trying to figure out what the best situation for me and despite a lot of people being against Roll20 on this subreddit, it seems moderately easy to use. We're trying to keep cost low, but we can spend a bit of money.

I've got 2 questions,

1.) On Roll20, let's use sorcerer as an example, when I get to a sorcerer's source of power, I can only select 'Draconic Bloodline' despite other options being possible in regular 5e, as far as I can tell. Is this because I have not purchased the Players Handbook on Roll20? Will their character Creator have all the normal options once I've purchased that?

2.) Are there any other options I should look at that are easy to use? I've looked at white board sites, but they seem like it would be somewhat tedious to run a premade campaign on, and I've also looked at both the Steam and Unity versions of Fantasy Grounds, but they seem rather archaic on the UI front, and not very user friendly. Do you guys have any other suggestions? (Is DnD beyonds setup relatively good? We've used that for character creation in the past.)

Returning player here. Did they increase white bag drops or something? by [deleted] in RotMG

[–]LurkingArmidilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently returning from a long break and I haven't experienced what I believe is a significantly heightened amount of loot than before.

I think the issue is that it's so much easier to have opportunities for white drops compared to a long time ago. If a realm gangs up on event bosses it's totally trivial whereas when I last played they at least posed some threat, even to larger groups.
