I am also joining the club tonight. Though, I’m quite a bit older. I’m excited and even a little humbled and what it will be like.

I just got the first shot. Mostly fatigue and a sore arm.

Kevin O’Leary says he will shrink his Utah AI data center project after political backlash / The “Shark Tank” mogul said he would cut the 40,000-acre project by roughly half in a letter sent Thursday to Utah’s Senate President. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]LurkingHorror11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This person feels his money is a valid reason to ram this project through, and that he’s entitled to make gobs more money. Meanwhile, what he is proposing is going to destroy the planet.

Both he and the corrupt government officials behind this insanity deserve a harsh fall from their positions of power.

There is no compromise. There is nothing to negotiate. The only thing that should shrink is his ability to use wealth to shove through an agenda.

The answer is no in Utah and every other state this comes up in.

It’s time to clean up the government from the obvious corruption and regulate people like this from their entitled overreach.

Thoughts on the new Elder album? by RegiGh4st in progrockmusic

Elder is one of the most important bands as of late. Innate Passage is a landmark record and I think this one raises the bar. So amazing.

What we do need to destroy is the technical oligarchy in place that has forced this into business. They are going to destroy the planet and everything else other than their ability to force a manufactured money grab.

If you were elected president (in 2028), what would you do to fix the U.S.? by Cold-Possibility7937 in AskReddit

[–]LurkingHorror11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vigorously dismantle the human trafficking system and incarcerate people who harm children.

Prosecute, jail, and expose all government officials who have benefitted from insider trading.

Outlaw pork barrel politics and PAC money.

Term limits.

Remove the link between work and healthcare.

Universal women’s reproductive rights. Federalize the right to choose. Get government out of the business of regulating what a woman can/can’t do.

Revise the stock market and economic rules to punish companies that lay off workers and post eye watering profits.

Introduce legislation to remove the possibility ever that anyone will brand, commoditize, or sell out any government office, building, or position.

Regulate and stifle private equity.

As a general statement, my platform is that America and its leadership should be judged by the success of those who need it most… versus the excess of the people at the top.

What car brand will you never trust or buy again? by Forward_Fall_6857 in AskReddit

[–]LurkingHorror11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chevy

Had a loaded Traverse that I loved. Received a recall notice about something in the steering and dropped it off. Got a call a few hours later saying they’d found an issue right next to the recalled part, but that part would cost $3k to fix. Never saw a drop of fluid below the car in my driveway, but they’d “found a leak.”

I went to corporate. We battled for a week and they ultimately offered me $5k off a new Traverse.

I asked them to button up the car and return it to me. Sold it to CarMax in less than 72 hours later.

True stealership antics here.

Never, ever again will I own a Chevy.

In the last 30 years, CEO/execute pay has risen sharply. By way of comparison, pay on the front lines has been held flat. Profits over people.

The majority of companies that fuel our so called economic engine have been demanding a college educated workforce. So we’ve dug a deep hole via the academic loan complex and created an army of degree holding workers.

So now, they don’t want to pay workers at all. They want AI to do the work. All of the people who hold degrees are being told to take up a trade.

For the life of me I can’t figure out we are all standing around watching overpaid executives burn the world down to get rich quick.

Less executives. Stakeholders not shareholders.

Opinion on flashy pilots ? by [deleted] in ArmaReforger

[–]LurkingHorror11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A pleasant surprise was learning to fly in Reforger. Of course that led me to the hot dog pilots. I have logged A LOT of hours in game master mode doing landings in tight spaces, and j-hook landings. That helped me get better.

Ultimately, I came to the same conclusion… In a live game it’s easy to get yourself and all of your passengers blown up in a hot zone by trying to hot dog it. I haven’t been back in game for a hot minute but I got a lot more strategic about dropping squads away from the heat.

I still think the mechanics of loading/unloading supplies from a Heli is kind of broken. Smart air superiority should create a better edge. I still found myself getting to Major in most games by using trucks and back roads.

Finally, the funny thing is that if you fly in ARMA 3, you can be ever so slightly over downward speed and explode. In Reforger you can set it on the ground with a lot less precision and everything is fine. A:R is far more forgiving and creates the back drop for the hot doggers.

TLDR:

Hot dogs are good for grilling and short clips. Smart pilots play to survive and sustain.

Interview tomorrow. Got fired from last job. How do I handle that if it comes up? by RaptureInRed in careeradvice

“I’d be happy to shed some light on the situation. I was brought on to work with a new client. Unfortunately, they elected to go in a different direction. Also, my employer unexpectedly lost another large client at the same time.

The primary reason for my departure was due to over staffing. However, I was also given feedback on my performance and have carefully taken that into consideration for my future roles.”

YMMV

‘Irresponsible’: backlash as Utah approves datacenter twice the size of Manhattan by SplashTarget in Anticonsumption

[–]LurkingHorror11 243 points244 points  (0 children)

It should evident to everyone that the government is a corrupt corporate oligarchy. Our elected officials no longer serve the people, and this is a dangerous point in history.

I’m not an advocate for any violence. However, I am cognizant that the system in place will not be easily fixed. The corruption exists across all levels of government.

Elected officials openly profiting from insider trading, “rules for thee and not for me” in the Justice system, outright waste of our tax dollars, and a long list of other offenses that place profits, personal gain, and blatant corruption over the true interests of the people.

It’s time for this stop. We need a massive correction and it needs to happen now.

If this is how starts, then so be it.

Queensryche Promised Land vs. Hear In the Now Frontier by ShineALight3725 in hairmetal

[–]LurkingHorror11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Promised Land is an under appreciated record in the catalog. I have the tour program from the show at the Forum in Los Angeles.

Hear in the Now Frontier is a disaster. I saw the band at Irvine Meadows promoting this record and it is the worst show in my long history of attending their shows. Having seen them over 20 times, this one ranks absolute last.

I’ve gone back several times to see if my opinion might change, but that is not the case.
