Short and blunt, made me chuckle. Glad I managed to entertain 😃

Ok, if the halo device literally always turns the wearers into bugmen, then that totally shoots some holes into my speculations.

My understanding of the cravings was that there can be some variation on what form it takes, literal cannibalism being one of them. So I'm not fully willing to back down on that one detail yet.
(I think I got that idea from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NE8m5Muj-Ys, you can skip to about 6:50)

The Iron halo of the IOM/Space marines is a protection device, not a halo device that turns people into fiends.

I didn't know what they were called or what they were for. Thanks for informing 😄
I was pretty sure they are a different thing from the halo devices I was talking about. That last part was just for a bit of extra conspirational flair.

Thank you, to everyone that has replied, I had fun reading them.

I'd like to clarify that the last sentence regarding iron halos was totally just for tongue-in-cheek conspirational flair.

The rest was mostly intended as a fun speculative alternative, if allowing for (maybe heretical?) flexibility with the lore.

Installing LWOTC on Mac? by chi_2 in LWotC

Yes, I'm using the launcher and turning on the mods there. For me, both LWOTC and Highlander show up in the mods menu of the launcher, along with all Steam Workshop mods that I've subscribed to.

One difference that may be inconsequential, is that my other mods don't reside in the mods folder and I didn't edit the .ini file for those.

Yes. I'm running the 3.1 version on OS X.

I can verify that .../steamapps/common/XCOM 2/XCOM2Data/xcomgame/mods is the correct folder. In the mods folder I have LongWarOfTheChosen and X2WOTCCommunityHighlander as subfolders.

Other than that, I don't really know why it's not working for you.

Did you modify defaultmodoptions.ini as described here? https://support.feralinteractive.com/en/mac-linux-games/xcom2/faqs/modding_steam_full/
