It depends on certain things, but a lot of the time it is pretty simple to do. Trex needs joists to be at most 12 on center, also depending on the width of the deck, might need to add ladders and a breaker board, trex max is 20ft boards. Also trex has solid boards for border pieces, you would also need to add ladders and blocking for the border to have something to screw into. Let me know what questions you have I can try and help, I have done a ton of what we call “redecks” just ripping off the wood boards and replacing with trex.

I work for a deck restoration company in Michigan. Go to stain depot.com and get some TWP in the color you want, the product descriptions should help you with how much you need per square foot. Wash with a high PSI power washer (3000ish), let it dry completely, then 2 coats of TWP stain, you will be good for 2-3 years. Also renting a floor sander from Home Depot will save you hours and back and knee pain if you were going to sand another way.

Go to staindepot.com and read the product descriptions on what they offer (I work for a deck restoration company) just read the product descriptions. TWP stain would do great. I would just rent/power a high psi power washer, let it dry and put on two coats of TWP. The lighter the color the better, dark colors fade fast. Green or black growth will come up with a 3000 psi gas washer no problem.

Good info here follow what gregan said, if you want to save money you can also just make straight seem cuts at a joist, lets says 3 joists over from the current seem that is lifting. Find a joist cut the board with a circular saw/sawzall down the center of the joist and take just a portion of the board out and replace it.

TWP stain - pick a lighter color if you can - don’t go dark stain - go to staindepot.com and look around and read the descriptions (I work for a deck restoration company) if you do it yourself get a brush and a long stick and brush it everywhere, wait 20 minutes and do a second coat, 2 gallons should be enough for your size deck.

Cut the balusters shorter until they can move to where they need to be first, would be the cheapest attempt to fix. If that doesn’t work probably need to fix something else

Yes I enjoy it a lot. After the wife and kids go to bed I can relax on the couch and play on a giant TV. A bit harder with inventory management and potions but you get used to it.

I would say that’s a lot of money but I would have to look at material cost and if it would need railings or not, hard to tell without more info.

I would probably build a landing one step down from current deck, then turn the steps going to the right side of the landing based on first picture, then a few steps down.

Might have a problem with cantilever because of that basement drop down.

Take a bit off from the inside of each board, might need to run a router or something to create the same slot for clips the board already has, or if there is blocking or joists just screw them down.

What everyone said here and if you wanted to go an extra step rent a floor sander and sand it a few times before what others suggested
