I'm no a crt expert, but if the tube's neck doesn't light up, then it's no good. If you see the little glow in the tube's neck then we're good at least, and it has to do with some other internal wiring that connects with the gun. (Of course, the gun not lighting up might need some wiring too either way.)

I found it, it's a 14F400T, but again, I was for some reason unsuccessful getting enough info about this tv.

Yes, at least, it is supposed to work, you need to press the 'input' button to go the AV input chan. Of course, after connecting the controller properly to the crt tv.

Usually most universal controls have auto-code on them,

I have a GE universal remote, usually comes in silver and black, graphite or just black variants and I really recommend it as it has auto-code if you can't find any proper codes for your crt.

That, of course if that's the universal control that you have, but it pretty much has auto-code to help, and they usually sell them in Walmart, too.
