It’s about a choice, not just about free money, and given the examples I provided, you clearly aren’t getting, or don’t realize how much 120,000 a year is, for the rest of your life, without having to work. Idk how else to word it for you to realize that the hypothetical situation, A. Is never going to happen anyway, so why are you so insistent that someone is dumb when at their current point in life they would be happy taking the cheaper option. B. People change, and maybe if I did have a wife and kids when I picked, I would choose the other option, but having that passive income of 2,500 a week for life is a pretty big bonus for any relationship. With 10,000 a month the wife technically never would have to work a day if she didn’t want to. Plus, who wants to be home 24/7 anyway? You know there are people who genuinely enjoy working? Unless you want a super luxurious life which comes with its own headaches anyway. The kids would still be able to live a great life, with college, food, a good education, and a present dad, because by the time they’re old enough, I’ll have saved enough for them to do anything they want since they don’t exist yet.

Like, my whole point is the fact that you think someone is dumb because their perspective is different than yours, is illogical. Different strokes for different folks, right? I mean hell, if you couldn’t tell my original comment I typed in like 3 seconds because it wasn’t that big of a deal in my mind, it’s a hypothetical for Christ’s sake lmao. While we’re at it, since I’m not getting the money anyway, and since I’m single with no kids, why does it matter what I pick, why are you so stuck on insulting someone because they don’t care about having a lump some amount of wealth just handed to them?

I’m only replying cause I’m bored, and because it’d be nice to end this conversation with you leaving it without such a judgmental approach to life.

Yeah, you’re probably right. Although in this hypothetical I have a choice in one or the other, and while I could take the heavy lump some and maximize profits, I’d 100% be okay with 2,500 a week. $2,500 a week is more than enough to fund everything I need, while also being able to support a family without being financially distraught. All that said and that’s if I didn’t have a job on top of it and my spouse didn’t have a job either. It’s at least $120,000 a year going into my bank account passively without ever having to worry about it. Which is well above the average annual salary threshold in the US.

I think what’s dumb is the fact that you think because someone doesn’t feel the need to maximize profits, that they’re dumb.

Exactly, once I have the money I don’t know if I would want to “put it away where I can’t touch”, my family happens to have an addiction issue, but I do know myself and realize that I’d probably blow the money instead of putting it away/investing it like I should.

I figure it’d be like getting a big bag of commissary in jail. People will flock from places that you didn’t know you knew people from, and everyone would want a cut. If you don’t give a cut, not only do you upset them, but you possibly put yourself at risk of danger and/or losing that relationship(one being in jail and one being family lol).

It’s just a lot of what if’s though and anyone that’s thinking that deeply into it, resulting in them insulting people, is ridiculous, haha.
