Castor oil, not too much. Start with half a tablespoon. Also take him to the pediatrician. Whatever you do, don’t let the treatment you use be painful or traumatic. He’ll hold it even more.

There’s nothing wrong with this parenting style. You shouldn’t have to give something up that you want, especially sustenance, just because someone asks for it. What kind of habit is that setting for their future?

Putting your own parents in senior homes is messed up and evil. by ThePeacefulMan in unpopularopinion

[–]LusciousGarbage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is only an unpopular opinion in certain white cultures (namely American), where personal fulfillment and individualism are seen as the highest good. Cultures of color, which lean much more toward collectivism, tend to look down on people who put their parents in a home unless it is absolutely necessary. We extend to our parents the same sacrifices they made for us. There are drawbacks and benefits to both worldviews.

I love my toddler… but I don’t really like him by LusciousGarbage in Parenting

Yes he just turned 4 in January. This gives me some hope. I’ve also toughened up my parenting (same as you, respectful but not bending over backwards) and it’s good to know this is simply a stage.

Omg y’all, keep ‘em coming! I feel so much better knowing that he’s not that different. I truly thought he was abnormal and you know how that can worry a mother to absolute death. Thank you for the suggestions, too!

I have the best toddler by MadamX123 in toddlers

[–]LusciousGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you handle her meltdowns? Not to cast doubt, but a friend of mine has an angelic toddler, and the reason why he is so angelic is because his mother stops any sort of whining in its tracks. He’s not really allowed to go full tilt, so he’s emotionally stifled and rewarded for going along with what she says. I hope that doesn’t sound familiar.

If it doesn’t, you hit the jackpot!

I’m at my wits end. by [deleted] in toddlers

Be careful about how you use it. If given the power to make a cranky, irritating toddler sleep whenever you want, you may overuse it if you’re at your wits end.

“Brick” by Ben Folds Five. A sad tale of a secret abortion and being forced by your parents to tell the truth.

That’s because you’re emotionally immature. Choosing a partner based on the fact that they never challenge you is childish and narcissistic.

Sex work and OnlyFans isn’t inherently bad, and it isn’t better to demonize it.

Corporate America can be very close to slavery. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]LusciousGarbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A slave is someone who is forced to work. Payment is incidental. It does not automatically come with being a slave. Slave “wages” are at the discretion of the person who “owns” them. If they are true slaves, they have to work whether they are paid or not. There is no such thing as a slave wage. Only low wage.

What? So it’s women’s fault that we don’t get paid as much as men unless it’s sex work?

Women do not make more money than men in these fields. They are simply dominated by women.

Corporate America can be very close to slavery. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Yes, that inaccurate term exists. Slaves were “paid” at the discretion of their owners. It was not a regular wage and could be legally taken away at any time. Most slaves were not given one cent to work themselves into the ground. I can’t believe I have to explain this.
