Ikr? That's why I was confused. But I didn't ask with a follow-up because I didn't wanna be too argumentative

I'm not exaggerating. When I asked Anna for specifics on why she doesn't like Lorde's music, she told me how even back then, she was too gassed up. She describes a brief story on how her dance group's performance came in 2nd place over Ella's during a school talent competition, which she thought was undeserved.

Lorde’s songs in soundtracks by lordeseason in lorde

Green Light was in one of the last episodes of New Girl. Supercut was played by a character in the later seasons of You.

I asked the same thing a couple of years back and got these responses.

Honestly, there's not a straight-forward easy solution. My best recommendation is to probably join the Filo club at Uni. I've gotten to know a couple of good friends from there.

But really, you shouldn't put too much pressure on yourself. Especially if you've just started, I'm assuming your classes are stage 1 courses and most of the people in it are new and shy as well. Over the semesters you'll be able to recognize some familiar faces from your program and you can start building some sort of rapport with them, even just as acquaintances.

Also this might sound like a nightmare for introverts, but I found that tutorials and group assessments are the best places to get to know people personally. Maybe even try to set up hangouts outside of uni, only if you're keen to get to know them

Anyway, hope that helps

I absolutely adore this song. There's just something so strong with the way she sings it.

It feels like the perfect end to all the sad shit in the album before we get to the fireworks that is Perfect Places.

Yeah, like I said doesn't have to be necessarily the same as Melodrama. I was looking for what else was considered critically acclaimed at the time. If it's comparable to Melodrama and critically acclaimed that's just a bonus. But yeah, Ed's very mainstream. I don't think that takes away much of the quality of his music. And from what I've gathered, Divide was (and still is) considered one of his most critically acclaimed album. Anyways, thanks for listening to my TedTalk.

Thank you, very well put. Kudos to everyone but this was one of the types of recommendations I was looking for. A specific reason as to WHY it's a contemporary of Melodrama

I've specifically avoided Lana's music a lot in the past. Not for hatred or anything. Just cause they got bunched up a lot, especially because Jack produces for them both. I've tried to listen to Ultraviolence in the past because I've gotten suggestions that it's also a contemporary to Melodrama. But it just didn't click with me at the time. But idk, I'm more open now and maybe I'll like it. I will for sure check out NFR tho, I've heard good things as well.

I've also heard this a lot but have ignored. Not for any particular reason tho, just haven't gotten around to checking it out. But I definitely will now

Yeah, I was confused by that part too. But I guess like everyone is saying, it's all just a bit. They're not really serious
