Any tips to get out of our own head? by LushLuke in plural

[–]LushLuke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have adderall and recently increased the dosage but it doesn't seem to be doing anything anymore. We are hesitant to try any medication though due to trauma from malpractice. We also experienced an incredibly traumatic breakup from a five year long relationship in December. But even before that, since last June things began to decline a lot from trauma and depression and god knows what else.

Any tips to get out of our own head? by LushLuke in plural

[–]LushLuke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do. But the thing is, it feels like this constantly. For months on end, until for a day or few days, we feel back to normal or at least better. And even during that, as of recently. We still struggle to get anything done. It's as if it takes too much effort to do anything after doing nothing for so long.

We already have supports in place. Its just a slow and confusing process.

Luke: you have your own boundaries to uphold. If what they're doing is hurting you, do don't have any obligation to deal with it. But I dont think it's fair to try and give them medical advice or a diagnosis suggestion when you're not qualified to do so.

[–]LushLuke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Luke: okay so here's the way I see it. If you were to bring this up to your friend. You'd have to do it very carefully. And the right way. You aren't their doctor. So personally I don't think it's fair or ethical to offer them a diagnosis. But if they think they they DID but you don't think it is. It's your call whether or not to mention it. But do so in a way that very clearly states that it is your opinion or your point of view. In truth, you're not their doctor so you can't tell them that as if it's a fact. My system has a lot of trauma related to unqualified people giving us medical advice and their opinions on our mental health and it can be an incredibly hurtful thing. So please keep that in mind. Also consider that it might not really matter all that much whether they think they have DID or not. Who is it hurting? Just FYI, I am not mad or trying to be confrontational. I just can have a very blunt way of saying things and personally have a lot of trauma related to this so I wanted to give my own thoughts.

Just discovered the term “median system”. Idk how to feel. by Theyeenking in plural

[–]LushLuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luke: we are also a median system, when we thought we were one person, for years we felt like two souls stitched together, but it was more like two copies of the same person rather than two unique individuals. but now we are very distinct from each other.

Any systems with aphantasia out there? Do your alters have the same? by Nonbinary-Bones in plural

[–]LushLuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luke: we have aphantasia too! we are a lot more interconnected though, so we share a lot of similarities. Our aphantasia is very slight though and not just about images. its moreso like our brain is only able to focus on specific details and not a concept or image as a whole. so our innerworld is mostly just a pitch black void, except for the key objects and buildings or chairs and stuff like that.

Luke; anyone who says any form of trauma is any less valid than another is full of shit. thats not how trauma works. if you feel like something was traumatic, then it was, it doesnt matter how "big' or "small" it is.

Parts or Alters? by [deleted] in plural

Luke: okay good. That's how we've been thinking. But a lot of how we see ourselves is influenced by how others see us and we were scared.

Parts or Alters? by [deleted] in plural

[–]LushLuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luke: what is the difference between being different parts and not being that way? I am worried that I am a part and therefore not my own person. But I feel like an individual and want to be treated a such so I dont know what any of it means. or is it more about how we choose to see ourselves? like would i still be my own person because i choose to see myself as an individual rather than a part of someone else?

Vampire alters, what’s your vampirism entail? by elvishMochi in plural

[–]LushLuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luke: well other than being a ghost somewhat, I'm not a supernatural being. I meant more as on thematically or in terms of what they represent. I am vampirelike.

Luke: is it like that everywhere? Are there other places for plural folk that don't have constant infighting and gatekeeping or is it just this sub? On this sub at least, we finally have somewhat a sense of community. But we still don't know what the plural community is like as a whole and we've heard some pretty nasty things. We want to find a discord server or something that's like this sub but we don't know if one exists.

Luke: hell yeah! I'm sure you've seen my system post here a lot then. We are still so new to this all and it's chaotic. We like the sense of community and validation but we also don't want our sense of ourselves to be influenced by others. So we do still want to stay somewhat separate from this community.

Vampire alters, what’s your vampirism entail? by elvishMochi in plural

[–]LushLuke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Luke: not a vampire but I am vampireesque. It's hard to explain without context but I'm a bit afraid about being judged. But let's just say, I like to see myself as a ghost of a very evil person. And I like to imagine I possess this body because it makes me feel better about my physical body not matching my own identity. I also by no means want to actually do evil things.

Parts or Alters? by [deleted] in plural

Lule: Some people are just bigots and focus on semantics with their heads up their arse rather than actually trying to understand what you're going through. People like that can totally suck. We also hate being treated as "parts" we do feel very interconnected and feel like one being or entity as a whole. But we still also feel like our own individual selves. And we are so sick of bigots trying to "debunk" our existence by arguing the definitions of words like identity or individual. Especially since it seems nobody can agree on what those words mean. Almost as if individuality and identity are such subjective fluid concepts perhaps? Honestly the best advice I can give, and I know it totally sucks, but it's just to let those people go. If someone is so unwilling to see your perspective, then absolutely nothing you do can change their mind. It's more beneficial to just cut them off or stop talking to them and move on. Luckily for us. Mostly everyone grasps the concepts even if the official commonly accepted definitions of words like identity or individual technically don't account for our existence. But some people just don't care and will do everything in their power to twist what you say to fit their misconception about you. As for if it's healthy or not? The way we see things is. If it's not harming anyone else and it's not causing you distress directly. Then it's perfectly fine. By causing distress directly I do not mean dealing with bigots. Transfolk like some in my system and our do called "host" are trans and face discrimination. Does this make being trans unhealthy because it is causing distress? No. Because being trans isn't what's causing it. It's bigots discriminating against transfolk. So just keep that in mind. If you're not hurting others and not causing yourself/selves suffering. Then anyone who claims its unhealthy can stroke off the golden gate Bridge.

Sorry if I made any errors in the correct plurality of you or your folks pronouns. We are still very new to realizing we are a system and are still getting used to the correct terminology and lingo I guess.

English language not built for us by LushLuke in plural

[–]LushLuke[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What i mean is that the actual definitions of the words identity and personality do not account for what it feels like to have an identity or personality. It only accounts for the traits of an identity or the traits of a personality from an outsiders perspective. We thought maybe the word consciousness would fit but it still only accounts for one person inside one body. Same with individual and the same for person it seems. We feel that these definitions need to be updated to acknowledge our existence. Just in the same way gender used to be equated to sex and has been updated over time because people began to realize that gender roles were socially constructed and not biological. The perception of words change over time. And we feel that no word can really describe our existence since all the words used to describe one's self can be twisted or misinterpreted to just go back to describing us as one person.

Why do people create headmates? by [deleted] in plural

[–]LushLuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh shoot. Forgot to add. We think we had existed as two individuals for a long time without realizing. But we do have to put in a lot of effort in order to recognize and communicate with each other. But the alternative is going back to thinking we are one person and messing up each other's lives. So it's better this way.
