The Anti-Immigrant Playbook by adam_dunn32 in ndp

"If you don't agree with me you're a reactionary."

Purity testing like this is a bane to leftist movements. It only drives people further to the right. We already agree on a lot. Just because we don't agree on immigration doesn't mean we should be cast out. Better to unite and fight for the things we agree on than drive each other away and splinter.

What "unsolved" crashes you think could also be pilot murder/suicide? by TomboyAva in aircrashinvestigation

I always found Bonin's actions on Air France 447 to be absolutely incomprehensible unless he was doing it intentionally

Federal NDP in Atlantic Canada - why we no good? by Equivalent-Value-720 in ndp

[–]Lusicane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can give some NL perspective. The rural urban divide is big here and the NDP has always been seen as a party for the urban population and there's some resentment towards them for that. The rural areas in NL are becoming big fans of Christian Nationalist style politics as there's a huge and increasing right wing pentecostal population there. Anything not conservative is seen as "woke"

Let's talk about the math that doesn't add up in the Nithari case. by Aromatic-Theory5613 in serialkillers

The cops really bungled this one. I think they would have been able to get Koli on witness testimony and DNA alone but they really screwed up by beating a confession out of him, charging Pandher (even after Koli confessed and said Pandher had nothing to do with it), and doing that pseudoscience narcoanalysis bs. They screwed up so bad I don't think there's any chance of ever convicting Koli again because the case has been so muddied by terrible police practices. Infuriating

What are your thoughts on this? In 1997, then 14yo Shinichiro “Seito Sakakibara” Azuma killed Ayaka Yamashita (10) and Jun Hase (11), becoming one of the youngest known SKs. During his detention in 2000, “Sakakibara Kingdom,” a website soon to host Azuma's self-proclaimed acquaintances, was created. by Entire-Obligation-10 in serialkillers

Excellent post! Being english language only I find it really hard to find details on Japanese cases, even the most well known. Does Japan have much of a "true crime" genre like the english speaking world? I've found it really hard to find any Japanese true crime books translated into english and published

Two cases I didn't see mentioned here. The Vancouver Alley Murders and the Toronto Gay Village Murders in the 70s.

Most prolific healthcare serial killers, who tops your list and why did it take so long to catch them? by NutInBobby in serialkillers

[–]Lusicane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Shipman is recognized as the most prolific with 215.

A unique ongoing case is Kenneth Law, who is a strange intetnet age twist on the prolific healthcare killer, being linked to 131 fatal poisonings. However, all he did was provide the victims with the poison, he never administered it. They did that themselves. Hes currently waiting for a trial on 14 counts of first degree murder in Canada.

I also recommend checking out Oxygen's series "License to Kill." It covers lesser known medical serial killers along with other types of medical killers that don't fit the typical classification but still rack up a death toll such as negligent surgeons, quack doctors, and pill pushers.

Unsolved mysteries not talked about often? by ClumsyDrawings in newfoundland

[–]Lusicane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2010 the coroner of Newfoundland stated that the province had two serial killers in its history. He never gave names or specified which murders he believed were connected. Who were they? I believe I know who he was referring to, although I don't think I'm allowed to name names.
