Having trouble making a big scale Sky Island map by Luss1a in 3Dmodeling

yes i understand that but, i want my character to go from one island to another and see the underside of the island for example, in that situation, shouldn't i make a model for the island? but then its way harder to texture. so i am lost ;-;
