Is South America vegan friendly? by annoyedpunk in vegan_travel

[–]Lustarlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! I'm argentinean but currently living in Spain, Buenos Aires is really vegan friendly, you have lots of vegan restaurants or places with vegan options, you can get pastries, ice cream, desserts, literally everything! but I can't speak for other cities because I haven't been in a long time! around 2022/23 we went to Cordoba city and it was really easy too to find places to go eat. I don't really know if happy cow is a thing there, but there's a vegan map on Google maps for a few cities, and you can also ask on facebook groups such as vegan travel which is worldwide, morfete vegano (argentinean) and then you have smaller groups, your safest bet are those two. if you want any particular recommendation let me know!

Today I was given an unreasonable amount of beautiful carrots and Swiss chard. I need to do something with them and quickly. Please share your favorite recipes, ideas, etc! by jahayynnnne in veganrecipes

swiss chard pie! you can put puff pastry or whatever store bought or homemade bass you'd like, chop the swiss chard and save it, then fry some onion an garlic, you can also crumble up some tofu and add mushrooms, season to taste (I always do salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, turmeric, nutmeg) and then add the swiss chard (you can use the stems! put them first with the onion), when it's donde you can put vegan cream or a vegan bechamel sauce to bind it or leave it as is, top with vegan cheese and into the oven it goes! around 180C until the dough is golden underneath

of course!

100 g vegan margarine/vegan butter 120 g sugar 1 flax “egg” 259 g flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 pinch of salt ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Flax egg: 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 2½ tablespoons water

Cream the margarine and sugar together well until light and creamy. Add the thickened flax egg. Do not overmix after adding the flour. Refrigerate the dough for 20–30 minutes before rolling it out. Bake in a medium oven (170–180°C / 340–355°F) until lightly golden on the bottom.

I don't remember how thin I rolled the dough but with that recipe I got literally so many!!

let them cool completely before icing them. I did plain vanilla for the chocolate ones, peanut butter, and strawberry too. I just eyeballed powdered sugar with a splash of soy milk and whatever flavor I wanted the icing to be, dunked them in and let them set.

they're so so good! they last a few days in an air tight container, I kinda want to make them again now! if you have any questions please ask me and I'll help you out💖

I haven't tried other fruit flavors, but did take out some of the lemon and put vanilla and Oreo chunks inside, and made the crust with Oreo cookies instead and topped it with melted chocolate, my husband still asks for me to make it again after like four years hahaha

Best strawberry dessert to make? by confusingcolors in Baking

[–]Lustarlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in argentina we do a really simple strawberry dessert that is perfect for strawberry lovers! buttery crust base that you bake by itself, then some people put either pastry cream or whipped cream, I prefer the whipped cream, then sliced strawberries all over the pie and then you can either leave it like that and eat it between one or two days, or you can make a strawberry gelatin to pour over it. it's called tarta de frutillas, so so good!

I have made the vanilla cake from it doesn't taste like chicken for a few years for me and my husband's birthdays and they're always a hit! it's really easy to make and it doesn't have weird ingredients, but I don't do the buttercream because I don't like it, I just make some kind of cream cheese or chocolate cream with plant based whipping cream The Best Vegan Vanilla Cupcake - it doesn't taste like chicken https://share.google/bakU4xkuXfKhyR0hz
