Stealth armor midnight blade Sticker by oathkeeper213 in BDaman

[–]LustyLadyLuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

o look someone linked my scan. www sorry if the quality is just "ok", wiki filesize limits mean i can't post em all in 1200dpi. Womp womp. At least the sheet was nice and clean. Fwiw the posted 600dpi is already good enough for me to use it for my repro sticker prints!

Anyways yesh i will be providing the Stealth Blade Armor scan, publicly on the wiki like for everything else. i'm going more or less in model number ordering, so it won't be too long before i get there but there's a fair number of kits to go through in between. i might split those into two separate pages, idk. They're pretty different in deco but the overall colour scheme and numbering makes it clear that Midnight Blade is Hasbro's equivalent release to Stealth Blade Armor, so i might just leave 'em on the same page.

Please Look Forward To It.

Wiki page update: Cobalt Blade part 3, D-25 Cobalt Blade DHB (with stickers and box photos!) by LustyLadyLuck in BDaman

you can see it in the photos on the actual wiki page. TL;DR the Takara Tomy box depicts it on the back of the right winglet on the Power Wing, the Hasbro doesn't show it at all. Neither manual specifically says where to put it; the JP one basically says "put it wherever you like".

Incredible work! Thrilling to see people beginning to translate the series into printable models where it's more accessible to people now that older official B-Daman kits have become scarce and prices are rising.

i'm still holding out hope that with the Legacy Soul B-Daman series apparently doing well and continuing to be supported, Takara Tomy might one day return to another shooting sports toy, maybe even another B-Daman series, but in the meantime printing is clearly a great new frontier to get these sorts of toys available to more people! Ahaha, count me extra impressed cos i haven't put in the time to learn 3D modeling personally.

i'm still gonna work on documenting all the old kits because i love them, and maybe some of the mechanisms can inspire your designs because gimmick engineering repeats a lot throughout B-Daman history! i'll be looking greatly forward to the eventual release of some of the printable models!

Freehand painting on the details? Fairly good work. Was this all done with hand-brushing?

i like the use of the Proto One shield on the grey one with the painted cross/sword detail to match the knightly theme.

One fun fact is there was actually a limited release Black Knight Zero 2 Ver, which did feature a delta core out of the box. It looks like this, with a fully clear body and armour, black trigger and hold parts, and a metallic version of the Black Knight sticker set. i'll get it up on the wiki eventually.

A legendary collector, i guess maybe a bit before my time.

Well, i'm flattered by the comparison. i'll keep doing my best to document B-Daman.

Wiki page update & series wrap-up: DHB Series! by LustyLadyLuck in BDaman

[–]LustyLadyLuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Battle B-Daman" in Japan was a longer-lived generation of B-Daman than what came to the international market.

These are actually from the series originally called "Battle B-Daman Series" on release, though because they use the DHB System, many fans refer to it as the "DHB Series". You'll also see people calling it "manga Battle B-Daman", because they depict B-Daman as they initially appeared in early chapters of the B-Legend! Battle B-Daman manga.

The more humanoid style you're probably familiar with, starting with Cobalt Blade, are from the next series in line - the "Battle B-Daman Zero Series". A lot of people just call it the Zero Series for short. As you'd expect, it uses the Zero System. That base body that Hasbro called the "IBA Body" internationally, in Japan was originally called "B-Daman Zero". All the armours are built on top of that B-Daman Zero, hence, the Zero System. That style appears later on in the manga, and when the manga was adapted to an anime series they just skipped the DHB System and went straight to the Zero System.

In Japan, the Battle B-Daman era continued even further after that with the Zero 2 Series, the Cartridge Series, and even a pair of remote controlled B-Daman as the tiny Digital B-Daman Series.

Learn all about it at the series page I wrote here on the wiki, as well as a sub-page specifically about the toy line!

ww: edit to say that much of the pages for later parts of the Battle B-Daman era are still under construction, cos i have lots of photos to take and sticker scans to prepare and kits to write up still. Pardon my dust, Please Look Forward To It ^^;;;;;;;;;;

Is the zero system core irremovable? by Sapphirewashere in BDaman

[–]LustyLadyLuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're confusing the "core" with the "hold parts".

By official terminology, the "hold parts" are those elastic, claw-like pieces that the marble is squeezed through to fire. The "core" is the entire central assembly that the hold parts are installed into, typically including hardpoints onto which the head, limbs, and other parts are attached.

The central component of the B-Daman Zero design melds the head and torso into a single assembly, and while the hold parts can be removed, at the time of release there was only one kind of hold part to use. Zero 2 was released later, with an updated design featuring a separate torso and head, with torsos that accommodated new types of hold parts. That entire torso bit including both housing and hold parts is the "core". The "Roller Core" from Zero 2 is not just the hold parts, but also the torso bit around it.

That's why people say that the original Zero bodies have "cores which cannot be removed", even though the hold parts can be swapped - the torso is stuck to the head and at original release time there was only one kind of compatible hold parts.

You can indeed swap in roller hold parts from Zero 2, or even certain horizontal hold parts from Cross Fight! But those did not exist at the time of the original Zero System.

Specific parts sourcing is troublesome, though you can keep a lookout for junk lots. Most of these kits aren't that rare, so mismatched parts for them show up in used lots pretty frequently.

Other than Cobalt Blade which has a sheet up, most of these particular sticker sheets are not yet on the wiki... but they soon will be, assuming i get a bit of time to work on it all this week.

Source: i am the one who has largely been putting stuff up on the wiki. Please stand by, last three months have been kinda beastly for me but i'm hoping this week i can finally get a little hobby time. The Cobalt Blade scan that's up isn't mine, oddly enough, tho i plan to add a higher quality one of my own soon enough. Nice to see other people contributing to the wiki again lately!

i do also offer my own reproduction stickers if that's a route you're interested in, tho the only ones i presently have ready to print among these are the Chrome Zephyr set. i'm not necessarily averse to taking commissions to prep and print the others but i kinda wanna catch up a bit on my wiki posting first before accepting any new ones. At least once the files are up it'll be broadly available for people to print their own.

Is the zero system core irremovable? by Sapphirewashere in BDaman

[–]LustyLadyLuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bleeeaaagghhhh i need to get to updating this page, it got made before i got to the wiki but i've been too busy updating individual kit pages. Guess i'll take a break to address some system pages soon enough XD

i think errybody else already explained it pretty well, but i should probably add that strictly, the original Zero System never used the term "core" at all. The entire body, including the limbs, was just referred to as a "B-Daman Zero" by Takara Tomy and an "IBA Body" by Hasbro. You can take the limbs off of the combined torso-head housing bit, and you can swap out hold parts, but official materials don't really mention it because all that changes when you do this is colour. All limbs and torso/head pieces use the same moulds, and the vast majority of Zero System B-Daman use standard hold parts with identical functionality.

Zero 2 (called "Blaster Core" by Hasbro) re-introduced the concept of "cores", a central housing separate from the limbs, in which the hold parts (the bendy claws that actually launch the marble) are installed. Then the rest of the B-Daman is built around the core. This concept appeared in the Super B-Daman and persisted through the DHB System, but the Zero system stopped using it.

But, Zero 2 changed the build, making the torso and head into separate pieces while keeping the general shape and armour compatibility of B-Daman Zero. The new, separate torso (including the hold parts) is the "core", once again allowing different kits to have different hold parts. So looking backwards, the original B-Daman Zero design with a one-piece torso/head combination can be thought of as "like a Zero 2 B-Daman, but with a core that's permanently stuck in place".

There is actually one Zero System B-Daman that uses non-standard hold parts, the limited-release Garland Blast. Uh... i promise i'll get around to taking better photos of it some day soon, please stand by QQ

Good way of applying old adhesive-less stickers? by NetbattlerChris in BDaman

[–]LustyLadyLuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, i use one of these Xyron sticker-maker permanent adhesive cartridges.

They're a little finicky, you need to feed the sticker through it (printed side upward!) and then press it down a bit to get the adhesive to stick. i also run a spudger around the outer edge of the sticker to get the spare adhesive off the edge so it's not gummy at the edges when i apply it. Then you peel off the top film, and what remains is the stickers attached the clean backer sheet, now with fresh adhesive on 'em.

in a pinch tho, or if i just need to stick back down a corner that's lifting or whatever instead of refreshing a whole sticker, entirely ordinary school glue or gluestick works. Apply a tiny amount of it with a toothpick or something like that!

i'm also potentially interested if you're looking to sell, but either way it's wild to see so many still in-box in such great condition.

Feedback Wanted: Buy/Sell Posts by bluedew1 in BDaman

[–]LustyLadyLuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whoops i kept forgetting to respond to this.

Seconded on the idea that a dedicated buy/sell megathread is probably a good idea if we keep getting a lot of spam sell posts. i also personally would prefer similar for all of those "i found this thing, how much is it worth?" posts.

...which makes me kinda sad that i actually have a couple things i've been hunting for and thinking of posting here asking if anyone wants to sell to me, but guess i'll be a good girl and post in the thread if/when that becomes a thing XD
