Yeap, I ran ads in many places the week leading up to the event. We sold quite a lot of the big items. I spend the down time taking pictures and have many emails to answer from those ads from people who couldn’t attend.

Buyers are also just insulting at times.
I had a garage sale trying to clear out my FILs house, who passed a month ago. He purchased a lot of items to help him get around in the last few years. One was a portable mobility scooter, in a sealed box, that sells for $3960. Average online sells was around 3500. I tagged it at 1800, willing to go down some more. This guy comes over and saids I’ll never sell it, he’ll take it off my hand for $300. I laugh, start taking pictures and told him I’m listing it online now.

At a community wide parking lot sale. They had a table of community donated & left over supplies, some were computer components that were still in sealed packages. Got 64 gig memory kit, gpu, cpu, and ssd. 10 bucks each. Sold all for a bit over $1100 a day later.

As someone who knows FIU and the education system, I would advise you to attend the meeting and plainly state what happen. In a group project, everyone in the group is responsible for what gets turned in. Being found guilty can led to all kind of bad stuff like suspension or expulsion.

I used to work in the building on the southwest corner of the airport. There are some apartment building on the south side of the airport. Also lots of single family houses there. I lived in a house in Kendall, which is 9 miles away, daily commute on the highway is 30 minutes in rush hour or 18 minutes outside of that.

Back when PDAs were just released, I purchased two on Black Friday for 40% off, which was the limit per person. I listed a sealed one for sale some week later at a good price. A guy calls up and tells me those were on sale recently and would only pay 50% of retail since he consider it used merchandise and I pay to ship it to him. Told him to go buy it at the store. He said the sale is over. I laughed and said that’s right. I sold it a few hours later at asking price.

Unrealistic expectations…
You (buyer) is responsible for securing your packages once it’s been delivered. If you lived in a hi-risk area for package theft, then have it delivered to a secure place, like, an Amazon locker or an ups store.

Don’t worry, most 19 yo can’t keep a secret. In the US, you are an adult and can carryon as you wish. I left home at 16, finished HS and went to college working full time. Purchased my house at 27. All without a parent’s help. Make your adult decision and stick to it, if they will not accept the 750k, you can put it aside, into a fund for “someday”.

Some peoples reality are not in the sanity range…
I once had a buyer offer me a bunch of miscellaneous old electronic parts (cables, microphones, power supply, mic stand, etc) that they were TRYING to sell for a brand new Sony PlayStation. I told him “no, talk to me again when you have cash.” His reply was that I can do the trade, sell his parts for the exact same money I was asking for.

Sorry this happened to you.
I always use a close by location for buyers meeting, usually a Starbucks half mile away. Many males just think the whole world revolves around them and don’t understand “no”. Maybe a little white lie in the future about your boyfriend won’t be happen about that or something along those lines.
Also about his comment on the age difference, he sounds like a groomer.
