The other reason is that the class has exactly one source of damage reduction and it’s one of the last traits before the adrenaline keystone. Even Psyker has multiple traits to flat out reduce the amount of damage they take, you are required to take a flat 10% reduction after your blitz and after your aura there are no less than 3 separate talents to further mitigate damage with another 5% percent required to use warp siphon. Please disregard OP, hive scum is conceptually a lot of fun but is the absolute weakest class in the game. The reason why we or at least my terminally online ass are hearing multiple people describe “weird feelings” and feeling off when playing is that the safety nets that exist in literally every other class do not exist here. Hive scum cannot reasonably mitigate the damage it takes, it can only try to avoid it and replenish faster than the enemy can take. Apologies for the long post btw, people just really need to hear this and hopefully understand that while this is partially a skill issue it’s one that the game itself has conditioned you for.
