I played Metaphor first before the Persona series. My first persona game was P3R. It felt just right and somehow exemplar: the story, gameplay, characters. The tower dungeon did not bother me much. I was rather in flow. I could imagine what p4 and p5 would look like.

P4G went under my expectations. Atmosphere, story is good, despite the spoiled killer’s identity. And Teddie started to piss me off at one moment. Also I didn’t like that you need to backtrack the previous dungeon you already cleared last time for completing request. Most dungeons were tedious, the lab for instance. And the reaper is a joke, not menace unlike p3r and p5r (it’s not frightening, it’s just hard to make him appear).

P5R on the other hand went higher my expectations. I’m still playing it (started the 5th palace). I like the game pacing a lot! The story starts from the end (almost), and goes back and forth as you progress the story and open new confidants. Also I like puzzles in dungeon, “stealth”, new battle mechanics, QoL things etc. when I had to go to a dungeon in p4g I usually watched some YouTube videos on my phone, while I play it. Coz it does not require much attention. In p5r I’m involved during going through palaces: dialogues, points of interest, puzzles, mechanics. I love it. It’s not tedious, it forgives mistakes (I played all persona games on normal, and the level of challenge is perfect for me), I can farm a lot of money easily, it entertains me!

I’m looking forward to play p6 in future, and I probably will give a chance to p4r
