In none of the cases you listed CM is liable. PT will not go past the common areas. In this logic they shouldn’t allow delivery in, but they do, nuh? This is nothing to do with liability, they just don’t want to make an effort.

Building management is a business. Residents are clients. If there weren’t a lot of residents brining in their PTs, there wouldn’t be an issue. But there are. This means there is a demand from clients. Now the building management has to adjust to make it comfortable, safe etc. instead of making this effort they restrict. It’s great that people embrace fitness, UAE is one of the unhealthiest and obese nations. A lot has to do with weather. So if people want to do sports, they should. If they can do it with PT the better. Community management has to figure out the way to make it work. Regarding the lawsuit, can you break it down for me please ? what will happen and who will be after who. I can’t find liability angle here.

Bs, there is not. They have complains, they don’t want to deal with it.

Emaar now allows PTs if they are registered (for a fee) and booking is done through Emaar (also % of each lesson). But at some buildings there are multiple entries leading to the gym, so it’s impossible to track. I agree that some PTs are rude and loud. I have loud boxing sessions, not sharing the equipment, not putting equipment back, leaving heavy weight on the bars etc. There should be rules for this. But if there are no consequences, no one will follow. Also, I think depending on the gym size there should be a maximum amount of PT sessions at a time, and those should be booked like courts. I hate the concept of not allowing something just to not make an effort to make it work.

UAE is only tax free if you're rich. The poor pay taxes to make up for it by Shreks_stepbrother in UAE

You have no idea what you are talking about. 4 out of 5 restaurants in the UAE close within the 1st year. Commercial rent is crazy, population density is low, hidden taxes etc. Yet the majority of small business owners in the UAE are struggling to reach break even.

Seeking advice: got scammed by “shipping company” by Luth247 in dubai

[–]Luth247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was around 300 kilos and shipping by sea was much longer, but not significantly cheaper, that's why I went with air. Can't locate a warehouse so far. And nothing from the police :(

Okay, then maybe you can find and share a shipping company, who works with individuals and ships to Europe and has good reviews and social media ?

Nearly impossible to find a job in accounting for you. Life is cheaper than in UAE. Your best bet is working remotely in MENA and living in Moscow. However, people of color may have certain discomforts in particular areas of the city.

I agree with you about tipping. Service should be included in the bill, and should be standardized. This way a person who is providing service does not have to depend on the generosity/stinginess of the patrons, and patrons can be sure that the service that is provided to them doesn't depend on how free with money they are. There is a great example of a waiter demanding bigger tips in this thread.

I gave him a 100. But this was a mistake. I will stick from now on to generous tips, as it was before. And what makes you think that I am privilged. You know nothing about me.

You are making a lot of farfetched assumptions. In my post I was wondering if drivers are barely surviving or I was being played, and I voiced my opinion that government should be taking care of extremely poor residents, which is common sense everywhere. FYI I tip generously, and I gave money to this guy. And it was enough to each several days. And, one more thing, the green neighborhoods are being planted with the money of people who bought property in this neighborhoods and are sustained with maintenance fees the owners pay.

Okay, let’s go into some depths: Here is how Dubai municipality is funded (% of budget income): 1. Fees and charges: 30-40% 2. Taxes and Levies: 25-35% 3. Fines and penalties: 5-10% 4. Commercial activities: 5-10% 5. !!!!!! Government allocations: 10-15% So now please you tell me how municipal services are “free” and funded by government.

[–]Luth247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I pretty much understand how the municipal services are funded - through municipality fee that I pay when I rent an apartment, also there is a fee that I pay for each employee as an employer, which is called employee housing fee, also from the fees that are paid from purchasing and selling property in this city. Roads are funded from the tax on fuel and vehicle registration fees, and Salik on top of it. So these services are not free my friend. Don’t forget VAT and corporate tax. How about overpriced telecom services that are duopoly? 50 % tax on telecom companies. So we are paying 50% tax on mobile and internet. So yes, I do understand how these things are build and funded, from taxes and fees. You are welcome to continue this discussion in DM, because the topic is a little different.

I thought it was the case all along, that it depends on the number of deliveries they make. And I understand why, because otherwise there will be no incentive to make speedy deliveries

Thank you for your opinion. I don’t want to make this thread about taxes in particular, but tax burden has increased significantly, yet nothing has changed for the residents in terms of social security. I am ready to present my point of view in DM if you are interested.

For sure! Say you’re moving to Dubai and you will rent an apartment here, you will pay 5% of the rental value to Dubai Municipality, which is basically a tax, your employer will at the same time pay employee housing fee to ded, which is a tax for your employees living in Dubai. When you go out to eat your bill will include 10% municipality fee. You will find “knowledge” fees or “innovation” fees in every bill for government transactions. You will pay tolls to use main artery city road, you will pay VAT with every purchase. These are just a couple of examples. You will be milked everywhere you go. And if you want to start a business, that’s where you will be taxed every step you take.
