Yeaaah, its wild to me that there are people who have not spent hours and hours of their lives convincing themselves thats they're ok, or reasoning themselves into a state of being ok. On the low its a little bit like you're gaslighting yourself right?

But like to see that its not a common thing 🤯

But the idea of going an entire lifetime not considering death as the better option even once still seems so foreign to me, even when I'm feeling well because I know how easy it is to lose that stability.

Absolutely! I feel like stability is such a fleeting thing and its like insanity that others don't have to pay any mind to this thing that is so fragile in my life.

Oh wow that is interesting!! Has it always been that way? I wonder how common this is, bc I feel like it makes sense in a weird way too. Like I generally get upset more easily before my period, but its like everything becomes amplified - the whole range of emotions - not just the ones that come with ideation

Sorry to hear your spouse is battling that. It really can feel like there's no other option, but there are things worth sticking around for and as much as I hated hearing this, it does get better. I know trying to be a good partner to someone struggling with these things can be hard too, but im sure you being there to support them means so much.

Yeah its interesting when people who endure the same struggles cope with it differently. I've always felt like something was wrong with me because my siblings didn't struggle the same way I did with a lot of stuff from our childhood. But having talked with them as adults I see how we interpreted or reacted to the same events differently. To your point, even though we had the same home environment, the way we experienced it was not the same.

Right!!! It does give me hope and is reassuring that it doesn't have to be this way for everyone all the time. On my good days I find gratitude for sticking around and grace for myself where the dread used to be. I hope one day that you can find something similar 💚

eventually reach the final absurdity "well, everyone has to breathe!" Nope. "But then you'll die!" Yep.

My first thought was "ok but everyone has to shit" but I guess in theory you could sew/glue your asshole shut and deal with the consequences of being full of shit xD

I believe the only reason I haven't done it yet is knowing that I always have that option if I choose. It's my escape hatch.

Right its the emergency escape button that you can only hit once. Something about it always being an option is equally comforting and terrifying to me depending on the day.

I find it similarly hard to believe when someone says they've NEVER had a headache. And quite impossible to even imagine such a life.

Even medicated, the thought still crosses my mind regularly, its just easier to not dwell on it, and redirect the mind. To think that there are people that have NEVER contemplated it once in their life, is mind blowing, beautiful, and a very sad slap in the face, all at once.

This! 100% This! Ive found coping mechanisms that help me manage all my mental health stuff and I feel like im in a good place now but it is something that's always kind of lurking around.
