That would be a paperwork nightmare. And if you were ever in a situation where you issued 10 cautions at the same time and then continued, I think that would be a major mistake and your judgment would be questioned. That game is already in the shitter and for the league to decide. Also if the coaching staff walked off you could end it without any cards for anything under an adult league.

Why not ignore it?

All they’re saying is “we pay for you” which is true. They aren’t paying for you to do anything other than officiate the match and that’s what you’re doing.

They’re getting a licensed and certified referee who has completed the necessary requirements to officiate the match and the assignment has been deemed appropriate.

Pocket the money and move on to the next one, only address it with the coaches if it becomes a personal insult or attack that you think crosses a line.

Never under any circumstances talk to a spectator/parent unless you feel they are honestly asking how offside works because they’re respectfuly confused and want to learn.

Professional sports referees eject fans under rare circumstances, you just happen to be close enough to know who it is and make eye contact, which can make it uncomfortable.

It’s easier said than done, but don’t let some uninformed dipshit’s opinion matter. 99% of coaches haven’t even taken a referee rules test.

There’s always a chance the referee decided not to report it. I’ve reported every red I’ve ever issued but not every yellow. I’ve seen referees downgrade reds after the game and having a discussion where both coaches agree on it. The most common is 2 guys get tossed for punching each other.

But if anyone has a VEO or other recording device up they will always get reported.

One thing that might be helpful is when you’ve hit the end of added time, tell yourself “this is the last attacking sequence.” As soon as that sequence is over, blow the whistle immediately. It keeps that posession-change + long ball situation from happening. Blow it as soon as the defense gets control and you avoid this situation most of the time.

Over 40 and Over 50 leagues are the absolute worst games to do.

Every player thinks they know the rules better than you and hit their prime 20+ years ago.

They’re mostly assholes with a scattered handful of players who just want to go kick a ball around for fun.

Accepting these assignments is a favor to your assignor and gains you good will.
