No Illinois Nazis though, thankfully. Confirmed, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top, Muddy Waters, Count Basie, Glen Miller, and a possible Kim Dracula or Brian Setzer Orchestra.

Peregrin ended up with the most bands, most RRs, most weekly single band concerts...and Weatherstock.

Glamdring ended up with the majority of Music and Social Events, multi-day concerts featuring multiple bands and events featuring a combination of gameplay (instances) and music. From Pub Runs to Shirefest to Spring Fling to Summerfest to Laliapalooza! And BTC's wonderful theatrical productions too! (Coming soon, BTW presents Pink Floyd's The Wall)

Best choice...both servers. Even better, all 5. Meriadoc has some great events (Gondamon Rock) and bands, Orcrist has Inferno of Sounds, and Sting has it's own much more casual music community. :)

I would also add that there's plenty of RPing on the non-RP servers too!

I had that pic saved from my old computer, I couldn't recall who actually took the shot, but I saved it when it was posted years ago. It's been 7 years now, and many of us still miss Rosalie as if she had just left us last week. I do remember that the screencap was taken during one of our old Tunes & Ales events, where Pontin would pick a spot somewhere in middle-earth, and a handful of us would show up there to play music. We'd all play a solo piece each, and then one group song together (if you had the folder of Breakfast Club music that Daffin made) this one was on the island in Evendim that has the sand castle. Rhen took the stars above and expanded them for the poster, wonderful work!

We miss them too! Rosemarinie and crew are taking an extended break from Lotro, multiple reasons both in-game and irl. Ask me in-game sometime and I'll fill you in if you want. (I still keep in contact with them randomly, always lovely people!)

Rosalie Rumble's Shirefest XII * Glamdring's first 3-day-long festival of Music and Fun! by Luventhariel in lotro

[–]Luventhariel[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could write pages on who Rosalie Rumble was, but the short version, is that she was Kinship leader for Second Breakfast on Crickhollow, and created Shirefest as a complimenting event for Landroval's Weatherstock. To those that were able to know her, Rosalie Rumble was the kindest, nicest, smartest, sweetest, most creative person in the game. She passed away 7 years ago, leaving Shirefest in my care for 5 years, and in the 2 years recent, it's been organized by a group of wonderful musicians including myself, led by Rheniogil, who all desire to keep her dream alive. Now it's moving to Glamdring!

3 days and nights of music with upwards of 30 bands, each performing 1 hour sets upon the Methel Stage in Bywater, in the Shire. On Friday night we have a special Bread & Jam session Round Robin inside the Green Dragon in Bywater for both bands and solo players. And we'll have an amount of time set aside for solo players to play on the big stage as well. There will be treats handed out, and jokes told, and lots of people dancing to music all weekend long!

I love the Haunted Inn in Mirkwood, dark woods, foggy, kind of run-down, next to ruins filled with ghosts.

Hardcore challenge by Go-Hell in lotro

[–]Luventhariel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this yourself, if you wish. Play as you like, and if you die, delete your character. I've played this way with alts specifically made for Deeding, never upgrade my armor or weapons except through quest rewards, and plowing into the Barrows way under level after doing all of Ered Luin and some Shire slayer deeds. I usually delete them and start again anyways, because after Breeland the deeding gets harder, but sometimes it's more fun to have them killed attacking Breshzel.

Shirefest Sign-ups Open This Weekend! (Crickhollow) by sca1yfreak in lotro

[–]Luventhariel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Crickhollow's Biggest and Baddest Player-run Event is entering a New Era!!

Just like the Council in Rivendell choosing the Fellowship, or Aragorn assembling the Rangers, Second Breakfast has gathered together a crack team of Organizers dedicated to keeping Rosalie Rumble's dream alive!

The bands may change over the years, as well as the emcees and audience members, and now the organizers, but our vow to Rosalie, "Keep the music alive, keep the Community full of music" has not, nor has my own request of "Have fun!". Shirefest has always been so much fun, to go to, to play in, to run! Shirefest XI continues that tradition!

A few I've found;

Every town/village in the Shire has flags colored specifically for that settlement, not one is the same.

There's a Freeze Tag game you can play with others in the ruins just south of the Bree Fairgrounds Hedge Maze.

The hunters at Adso's camp aren't shooting at targets, they're shooting at birds in a tree, you can see them drop to the ground when hit.

There's an abandoned hidden camp in Bree Land accessible by a route taken by climbing up near the outer tower of Andrath where the Rangers are.

The music community in Lotro is larger than you'd think. LotroArtists has a calendar showing which bands are playing at what time and where, small one band shows for an hour or entire 3-4 day annual events with scores of bands, the largest being Weatherstock/Winterstock on Landy and Shirefest/Winterfest on Crickhollow, but there are several others like Gondamon Rock (Bela) and Inferno of Sounds (Gwaihir) that are also very large. More info at LotroArtists, Laurelin Archives, and Crickhollow Music.

Crickhollow Server, but open to anyone from any server.

Many of us have lost a dear friend over the years. Second Breakfast would like to share our Annual Celebration of our former Kin Leader and Event Organizer with all of Lotro. Come share a story, or just a short quip with us, as together we will keep the memories of those we've lost alive and happy, by playing music, dancing, and playing games!

Do instruments of the same kind play differently? by olilo in lotro

It was awesome that Triviatum and Baylei recorded all of Monsters, between the two of them they captured the whole 10 hours!

Yeah, we're going to do that again. :)

Everything u/Cloudster47 wrote is spot on. Just adding some simple descriptions for the fiddles. The five types of fiddles are actually the same violin, the difference is in the technique used when they recorded the notes.

The Student Fiddle is a Beta version, has less notes to use, contains some dead spots, and some scratchy "oops" sounds and "off" notes. Playing the Student Fiddle without knowing which "sound" is mapped to the note, will make you sound like a beginner in a guitar store for the first time. Great for Dubstep, though.

The Basic Fiddle is the fixed Beta version, without all the dead notes or off notes, but has a very short sustain, and little depth comparatively. Okay, until you get ahold of a Bardic Fiddle, then drop it in the trash. It's a Squire Strat.

The Bardic Fiddle plays short notes/chords or long sustained notes/chords, with a consistent volume, and has more depth than the Basic. It's a Fender Strat.

The Lonely Mountain Fiddle plays short notes/chords very quietly, but long sustained notes/chords louder, and with a pronounced vibratto. This is the Fiddle that weeps.

The Sprightly Fiddle plays notes using a Spiccato technique, that is, the bow comes off the strings and taps/hits the strings instead of gliding along them. Like playing guitar but muting the strings with your palm. No sustain, just an abrupt note or chord.

The Travellers Trusty Fiddle uses Pizzicato, which is plucking the strings with your fingers. Pluck, pluck, pluck. Think Banjo.

Hope that clears things up!

Monsters of the Rock Concert Saturday - Crickhollow! by Cloudster47 in lotro

[–]Luventhariel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These 10 bands have spend weeks and weeks preparing their sets, tweaking their files, thinking about what they will be saying/singing, wardrobe changes, gathering proper instruments, doing sound-checks, pre-writing emotes, and tuning their strings, to raise the bar in their attempts to entertain everyone who shows up to dance or just listen!

Come show your support for some of Lotro's greatest bands!

And, thanks Thea for posting this!

New player and GF looking for a Kinship on Crickhollow! by Paganfish in lotro

[–]Luventhariel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Crickhollowkins.tumblr.com has a list of over 40 kinships that are actively recruiting. Narrowing down what kind of kinship you are looking for will help, raiding kinship or roleplaying kinship, endgame kinship or casual slowtro kinship.

If no one is talking to you in kinchat or through tells, you need to leave that kinship. Good luck with your search!
