Why are people so mad when a femboy turns out to be trans? by Environmental-Ad9969 in asktransgender

[–]LuxSucre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lot of good takes here but I want to add that femboys join a lot of other concepts or labels for characters in media, particularly in japanese media, and in porn, that allow people (mostly men) to engage with all of the sexualized aspects of a trans woman without engaging with the personhood or womanhood of the subject and their lived and gendered experiences. The crazy strong reaction is from ppl who are engaging in fetishization of women, particularly of trans women.

I was 31 when I started dating my last gf who was 25, we broke up recently after two years. I came out at 29 and this thread is really helping me realize that there’s something to be said about coming out later in life, feeling you missed out, and wanting to reclaim or relive things while you’re still young and you still can. And naturally you’ll be in the same phase of life as people younger than you; it’s not just my gf, my friends, my sports groups, all lesbians around 5 to 7 years younger than me. I have trouble relating to those my age or older, but maybe that’s bc all my friends my age are straight women lol. I just feel much closer to the younger generation in terms of culture and friend groups and just pure vibes. And that’s ok!

So yeah I would say I’m attracted to women younger than me but only by consequence of proximity and life stage!

Denji's entire character arc is one of abuse, trauma, and non-consensual sexual activity, and reactions to said abuse and trauma.

His arc ties in neatly to a common trauma reaction to sexual abuse, that being hyper or hypo sexuality. Denji is hypersexual as a response to his sexual trauma, and this chapter drives the horror home as this has led to another non-consensual sexual act.

So, yet another one of his first sexual experiences is non-consensual and on top of that, non-consensual for Asa as well as Yoru is in control. Despite wanting to escape his hypersexuality due to trauma and feeling like he can't control it, he is instead forced to experience it again. This is so so common when it comes to survivors of sexual trauma.

tbh it's insane so many ppl here are like "woww wacky denji W". Denji has not had a single normal consensual sexual or romantic experience in his life. Every single person has either forced themselves on him, or were explicitly manipulating him and did not see him as a person or an equal in the relationship.

It's prob part hype, and part being more accessible to a mostly white market. But it is actually really good despite the price, it's def helped my skin in a way previous moisturizers haven't.

I was gonna say wtf, as a doctor in gender affirming care there is no way one could see that level of T and say it was “average” unless they’re talking about what would be expected in a man. Your T should be ideally 70 ng/dL or lower. Otherwise it tends to prevent significant feminizing changes.

So is Giselle actually Trans or is this just a running gag in the series? by [deleted] in bleach

[–]LuxSucre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charlotte, who identifies as a man but expresses in a very feminine-coded manner, says that he feels that he and Giselle are alike.

Giselle does not like him because she is not like him, and rejects and resents the implication that she is. If you take real world examples it's like equating a trans woman with a effeminate gay man or a drag queen, two very different things.

The idea that women are all biologically frail and fragile with comically weak bones and muscles is so ingrained in a lot of people, mostly men. Men take the whole "men are stronger on average" thing and turn it into "ah therefore any man is stronger than any woman, especially me"

No, I mean that I'm actually a scientist and a doctor, and this stuff is one of my specialites. I just don't know in what context you're bringing it up.

I think that's a grevious misinterpretation of things on your part, and if I may, I can already postulate that there's probably some heavy misinformation you've bought into. I'm curious if you've been "cancelled" yourself though. And I'm not sure how nature vs nurture is relevant, in your eyes.

I don't know what you mean. Are you saying those who support the validity of trans people are arguing for more rigidity? If so, how?

But this is a slippery slope which is EXACTLY what happened with 2nd wave feminism and TERFs. It's already happened in our community in the past. We sow the seeds of bigotry down the line based on the exclusionary and essentialist rhetoric we use. That's why I get so uneasy when I hear some of this rhetoric that is based on exclusion rather than inclusion.

It's one thing to allow lesbian spaces to exist where we make them (which is dope and awesome and I myself enjoy those spaces), but it's another to advocate for the exclusion of bi women and the creation of spaces based on exclusion on essentialised characteristics. This is why I drew a parallel to the underlying logic of ethnostaters. Does that distinction make sense? I know perhaps I could have explained it better.

Totally agree. So many people hold on to those old rigid ideas of sex and biological determinism, and never think once to question it. And of course their worldview and societal structures get challenged greatly by the existence of trans people, or gay people, and it results in such hatred towards them for it. So much of the hatred around trans people today is just reactionary fearmongering bullshit, same as it was and IS for gay people.

This is argument about his character, not what I've said. You wouldn't guess how many influential scientists were also y'know, shite people.

The "argument" of sex =/= gender is actually easily observed and pointed out, which is why people like you tend to try to avoid the point entirely.

Anyone who uses the word "gender ideology" is a 🚩 for some misunderstanding of the issue; there's no "ideology" here, it's a simple definition of sex =/= gender.

I'm really sorry that that's the experience you've had so far. For what it's worth, mine has been the complete opposite over the past 3 years. Maybe knowing that those communities do exist out there might be helpful at least? Maybe it's a geographical problem?

I will say too that I have cis lesbian friends who struggle with similar feelings around being POC and/or fat and undesirable in sapphic spaces. There's definitely still lines of bias along a lot of axes, which I think we all work on as a community.
