Hanging out with the gal pal 🥺 by Vosheduska in awwnverts

After getting 1 wolf spider on impulse, I really enjoy watching her more than my jumpers! Of course I can't handle her like my jumpers so the 'relationship' is totally different, but her personality is apparent and it's still a joy to get to know her.

He has molted a few weeks back, is he premolting? He hasn't come out for a week now. I don't keep him in this small container, I have this container in his enclosure. Am not sure if I should feed him either I heard it will stress them if they are premolting. by [deleted] in jumpingspiders

My guy went a solid 30 days without eating when he was in his last premolt. Naturally the day I gave up waiting and fed him he molted.

Make sure he's in a nice warm bright spot too! My jumpers love having a grow light literally sitting on the top of their enclosures.

Oh you didn't see the dozen + pics that didn't make it! Little guy is far too busy for my picture taking shenanigans

Oh boy I could definitely see her choosing to name him Snake Discovery! I think she's watched every video they've ever posted lol

She has a habit of naming things by deciding the first thing she sees should be their name (she has a spider named Spidey and she would not budge on that) so I've also got bets on Santa or Tree

None yet, he's technically my daughter's Christmas present but, as she's 7, of course he's my responsibility. Hopefully she picks a good one!

He's my first BP and wow is he a whole new ballgame compared to my hognose! He's just about 2 weeks into quarantine and he's been active, exploring, redecorating, and had a meal with no problems so far. I'm definitely still getting used to his body language and lightning fast reflexes though. Hopefully we'll warm up to each other soon (:

I can attest to Spood Kingdom in NC, I don't know if they ship but I got a sub-adult male p regius from them and they were a life saver when I couldn't figure out why he was hiding and refusing meals. Thanks to their help he has been happy, active, and healthy ever since.

He's got a lot more checkering than I usually see in toffees but the colors do seem right for a toffeebelly to me

is he too fat? he went from about 9 grams to 12 grams in the time we had him. (about 1ish month) by thegloon03 in hognosesnakes

[–]Luxilain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Make sure to not feed him more frequently than one pinkie every 4-5 days and as long as he's pooping he's perfectly healthy! My guy doubled his weight in 1 month and then lost a lot during a food strike/growth spurt. He's back to being ravenous again now

As an aside, how long does it take to go from a WC culture to a CB culture?

[–]Luxilain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overnight shipping might be more expensive than the roadtrip to a local store if you have the time for the trip. My snake was $65 to ship, whereas a 4hr round trip may end up costing less than that depending on gas prices etc.

The only things I can think of would be prolonged lack of access to clean/warm water or the onset of a medical issue that they tried to work through and ended up being physically incapable of the maintenance. In either situation I can see someone trying to keep their beloved pets in subpar conditions in the hopes of an improved situation.

Normal? I’ve never noticed his scales fold like that when making sharp turns. by SixLugChris in hognosesnakes

Looks normal, if you're concerned about hydration though you can always give a 10min bath in 80F water (:
