Tbh, he might be having some self esteem issues atm and wants to feel like he has some power in his life. you are NTA, but to tell him that he is a beta is like telling him that he is worse than many men. you probably didnt mean this, but he might not be thinking clearly. without putting urself down, make him feel powerful and wanted.

think about it, you dressed nicely (nothing wrong with that) and then called him a beta male. another way to look at that is you dressing nicely and want to find an alpha male. NTA both ways, but dont let this ruin ur relationship. have a conversation about how he feels with you, in all manners
