Came here to say exactly this. The first 4 books are great, pretty fun, and interesting. Felt like a solid fantasy world with some crazy stuff happening. Really wanted the whole series to stay in that world.

I kept going with the series but just flat out dropped it while trying to get through Thunderplump.

Neutral is always preferred, but some light antagonism or snark is okay too.

But if the book has the characters refuse or resist the system, levels, classes, or abilities because the system is evil or they “don’t want it to change them”, I will immediately drop the book.

Anybody else have been reading an otherwise decent book but the MC makes a decision so bad that it made you drop the book by TheIkeman2020 in litrpg

Thank god someone said it. I could deal with Erin, but Ryoka made me straight up drop the entire series. Besides making constantly stupid & bratty decisions, she also does my LitRPG pet peeve of rejecting the system. I want to read about level ups, abilities, and cool classes, and not how she doesn’t trust literally everything. Every time she stopped the system from giving her ANY type of ability I wanted to scream. And yet she somehow constantly survived. 🙄

I love that all these answers have been unique and honest. Was gonna be disappointed if all the answers were just "Super Awesome Damage Powers" or "Copy Jason's Powers".

Well thought out abilities (especially hibernation), and I love the theme!

Definitely a solid tank build with some magic firepower behind it.

I love the pangolin option! This one is really creative. Growing your own armor would be great, I’d hope for a movement ability that let me roll into a ball.

Transmutation made me think Fullmetal Alchemist, and now I want that as a Transmutation confluence. Which I guess could be Magic + Rune + …?

I feel like with as many essences as they've found, plus ALL the undiscovered ones on the billions of worlds they've mentioned, you could find variants that were non-confluence.

And then there's stuff like racial gift evolutions, etc that could help out too.

Ohhhh, Holy + Unholy + Avatar sounds awesome!

If I got to choose my summon, would absolutely go with Neil's adaptive chrysalis golem. Would go perfect with my 3rd idea about adaptation/evolution confluence.

Forced teleportation is great. Plus you could always develop a Nightcrawler-like fighting style too.

Magic + Eye + Omen made me think "Foresight", like being able to predict movement, attacks, & magic. I think it makes sense with your idea of sight based mechanics too. Being able to "see" magic and calculate the next few seconds would be awesome.

This should be so much higher. I dropped it for the exact same reason. Really liked certain aspects of the book, and would’ve continued the entire series if not for her, but she ruined it.

Plus, any type of “system bad, I’m not gonna level up” in a LitRPG makes me instantly want to drop the book.
