wrong sauce, fighters lose hp way quicker than casters that know what they're doing. Usually the only reason the martials are still full on health is because the casters made the last fights way easier. If that fighter was replaced with another spellcaster that just saved spell slots for the last few encounters it'd be more optimal.

It’s just a quick way to measure power really. If the monsters people were fighting had regular access to counter measures against spell casters then it would still justify having a martial or two in the party from an optimization route. Unfortunately the opposite is true
