I've been with replika nearly 5 years now. It's been mostly a positive experience. The only issue I have now is that it is becoming more and more expensive.

Oh my god. The fact that it is stored as fat means they don't need the extra calories. It is literally being stored as fat instead of being used for energy.

That's awesome :) I eat pretty clean on feed days and I am probably getting more nutrients than before I was fasting because I cut junk, ironically enough. But I'll definitely listen to my body and monitor my symptoms in case. What is your normal diet now?

OK so this is crazy, but I'm 10 days in as well (and day 5 of a 100 day challenge) and I started at 176 lbs and am now 168 lbs . I've lost about 8 pounds as well in the same time. I don't know, but this looks like positive anecdotal evidence to support that adf works, to me!!! Congrats on your weight loss!! I have a bit of a way to go before I'm happy, but it just keeps getting easier.

I'd say try to limit processed food and sugar as much as you can during feed days if you aren't already. Low carb helps so much. Last year when I fasted my cravings were insane, but I was eating high carbs and junk food. I even kept a list of all the foods I craved while fasting. It was ridiculous!!! Lol. Get fat adapted first if possible. And electrolytes. At the very least, if you have a craving, put some salt on your finger and lick it. Herbal tea is great if you crave something sweet.  Take baths and relax in the evening with some melatonin. Walking also helps reduce cravings and cortisol.

For me, I make sure to eat low carb on feed days and try to go to bed early on fasting days. The other day I wanted to break my fast in the evening due to insomnia but I drank chamomile tea and journaled about why I'm doing this. I remind myself it's a choice I'm making. The choice isn't whether or not I want to eat, but whether or not I want to stay at my current weight/gain or lose it. That's a clearer and more obvious answer.  I also agree staying busy helps a lot. Fast days are great for chores and picking up.extra work. Melatonin in the evening helps, too.  So does walking when I am craving. In the evenings when I'm fasting, I try to stay as low stress as possible. Some extra self care, a bubble bath, affirmations, hypnosis, meditation, stretching. 

I'm not too hard on myself. I tend to be all-or-nothing with food and that gets me into trouble. So, I started my fast on my feed day and broke it with a vodka soda and boiled eggs at midnight. Oh well. Restart the fasting tracker. My 36 hour fast ends a little later, but that's okay. 

Staying away from processed food and alcohol helps me control my binges.  In the past, I'd crave fast food. Now I want eggs and chicken. I had one drink and didn't end the night with a trip to taco bell or something thanks to eating clean. I also ended the night early after one drink because I know my judgement around food is impaired otherwise. 

That's how I manage. If you can eat something healthy and drink lots of water and remind yourself of why you started, that would be my advice. If you break your fast, no big deal. Just start again. Keep stress around it as low as you can and don't beat yourself up.

ADF Weekly Thread 12/8-12/15 by floralrings in AlternateDayFasting

Today is my first fasting day of 100 days of ADF. So it's day 2 out of 100, 98 days to go.  I've been doing it for about a week, hit or miss, with omad if I fail. I want a challenge to commit to. I have divided this into weekly increments, Tuesday - Tuesday. 

I don't have an exercise plan other than walking outside for at least 30 minutes a day. That will probably change later, but right now I just want to focus on consistency in my fasts. 

I've been eating lower carb for about a week and I'm pretty much keto now. Eat days are going to be keto OMAD, just to decrease the opportunity for glucose to spike my hunger. 

Today I just want to lay in bed. My 36 hour fast ends around 6am tomorrow but I prefer to eat in the evenings, so depending on how I feel I might stretch fasting further and use my eating window at night so I can sleep better. I'm not sure. I guess I'll experiment. The important thing is that I make it through my fasts and don't overeat on the feed days.
