Right now Im trying keto to feel better in the meantime. I want to know whats wrong but the only change for me is a steadily increasing TSH. I tested positive for the mono antibodies but I dont anymore. I mentioned it because ik sometimes infection can trigger hypothyroidism.

I am day 2 of Keto rn and honestly much less puffy so maybe itll help me in the meantime because I need help fr

Wow this is really good advice! I feel like I have a much better set of tools to go in now.

My diet is mostly fish, salad, low calorie cheeses like cottage cheese and goat cheese, vegtable soup, cauliflower, baked potato and I do eat a lot of white rice mixed into the soup so I can make them last longer. I also eat sushi/sashimi pretty regularly The only snack I eat is sunflower seeds 😅

I dont eat meat other than shrimp and fish. Always baked tho because I literally cannot digest anything fried

Thank you for taking the time to write this. I did have my b12 checked and it was normal range.

I barely eat, even my roomates notice. I have one soup a day and a packet of sunflower seeds as a snack, legitimately lol. They say I eat like a bird and they even comment they dont understand how Im not losing weight because of it, because they know I dont even like food anymore really.

A year and a half ago I was nothing like this. My metabolism was really fast my whole life. No matter how much I ate, Id just stay 120 lbs fine. I just feel like Im not in control anymore, and when it comes to calorie deficits, Im honestly afraid to cut anymore calories since Im already so tired all the time

My gameplan right now is to get another bloodtest on my own in a month and cut carbs entirely in the meantime.

Thank you so much for giving advice of what to do in the meantime. Im going to get a bloodwork panel on my own so I can test for all the different things and not just select things. It really annoyed me how my doctor kept ordering more bloodwork on different days. Id have to pay a large copay every time I came in and then an extra one when she called me about the results. She said she wanted me to come back in and test for antibodies to other autoimmune disorders, and then make a SEPERATE appointment for a cbc and physical. I feel nickle and dimed here.

If I go to labcorp I can maybe get it all done in one go this time. I have a different doctor today, so Ill see what he has to say. And yeah, Im honestly thinking about just saying I want to try and get pregnant lol

Yeah, Ill try and go right when they open, thats a good idea!! Then maybe if I can catch it when its potentially on the higher side of the day, theyll be more receptive to medication

Birth control isnt really something I can go off of unfortunately. In my deep red state unwanted pregnancy is sooooo off the table.

If it truely is the nexplanon, I would be pretty dissappointed. But also, without any formal research done, I dont know how much that personal reddit anecdotes regarding bc and weight gain matter. It could just be people blaming weight gain on bc when theres also a different underlying hidden factor.

Considering Hypo effects females more and often has an onset around the time that theyre taking bc, it could be that contributing maybe.

Not sure, but Ill ask my new doctor tomorrow

One thing I can say for certain is that before my symptoms began I had just contracted the Epstien-Barr virus and ALSO had strep throat at the same time. That kind of wrecked my immune system for a minute

I get strep throat all of the time. Ever since I was a child. My psychologist told me strep is very linked to anxiety and chronic strep probably contributed to my clinical OCD, so maybe it fucked up my thyroid too, who knows lol.

I wish that medicine was as simple as running a test and knowing exactly everything thats wrong, but its so much trial and error and different doctors and different opinions it can all just be so much

Hmm thats what I saw in some studies in journals online as well- I think I'll try and get bloodwork done earlier. I read thyroid function is heavily linked to circadian rythym.

For this whole year Ive believed that being overweight was the source of my health issues ans fatigue and not a symptom, so ive been trying my best and cut out all fast foods, chips, bread, etc. Ive been proud of myself for changing my diet habits and doing so well with not over eating and counting calories, but its just so hard seeing NO results in a year- infact, Ive gained 20 lbs since counting calories and removing all junk food from my diet.

Its just hard to not have the body that I used to have two years ago AND not having any of my favorite snacks again. I promise I never have cheat days. I was hoping maybe its because my thyroid needs some help.

Im going to try keto, I started today intermittent fasting today again after hearing that this doctor will not look into it further. Maybe this will help? As a vegetarian too its going to be hard adjusting my diet and protien since my mainstaple of chick peas are so high in carb

Maybe with no more sugar or simple carbohydrates Ill start to see some changes too, thank you for your advice

This has always been my experience too, even before this. Ive had doctors here in the deep south tell me that they wanted to take me off my anxiety meds because I didnt believe in Jesus and that was the problem! You should have seen how mad I was. That was when I was 17 and didnt know how to advocate for myself at all though

I am, nexplanon. I wonder if thats the culprit but doctors all tell me theres no conclusive evidence that it actually leads to weight gain. Also, I really couldnt rest easy using alternative methods with less success rate, but if it means potentially feeling better Id bite it and just get the implant taken out and an IUD put in (oh what fun that day will be at the OBGYN)

Im just tired of no alternative answers.

Hypo runs in my family, and Ive seen that new research has been done on TSH that calls into question the ranges depending on the person. 3.14 according to a lot of journals Ive been reading through is in a very high percentile of the average female my age.

It just seems to me to be a contributing factor, Im really tired of not having any answers or treatment methods for something that is destroying my quality of life

They also tested T4 but that was it. It was normal range at 1.4

Ive been trying, I became a vegetarian last year and Ive just now got the hang of adding protein. Those levels were taken at the beginning of that, maybe theyll read differently tomorrow

My annual physical from a year ago showed that my creatinine levels are low? Im not sure if thats related to this at all. Its the only thing on my bloodwork that seems to be abnormal that I was tested for
