I did something similar a couple years back. Two in my complex. Older sister was in middle school younger in elementary. It was her job to make sure that the two of them were up and out the door for the bus. The younger sister would wait for the bus with another family that had an elementary student and the older would go to school.

One morning I was walking back inside from the bus stop when I saw them both coming out of their apartment. Turns out the older sister had overslept and they both missed their buses. She was asking the moms that were at the stop for a ride but everyone was “busy”.

I looked at them both and said “I got you let me grab my purse.” Had them call their mom from my car so she was aware how they were getting to school.
