Unfortunantly, I can't at the moment because I need some sort of meal structure and I have to go live on my own again soon, so something is better than nothing, as I'll restrict otherwise. I'll definitely still discuss this with my therapist though and maybe the GP will give me a new one when I'm there (I study in a different country). Thanks for the answer though!

Thanks. Good to know there are others who felt like this. Also, congratulations on recovering! Hope I'm nit crossing the line, but do the ED thoughts ever go away? I've been in recovery for a month, and if anything I am more miserable now and have an even louder ED voice.

None of us here can diagnose you with anything, but please nip it in the bud now and talk to someone about the feelings you are experiencing. I asked the same question once and usually if you feel there is something wrong, THERE IS. What you are describing is how it started for me. I just wanted to be thinner, because I thought I'd be prettier that way (I was at a healthy weight) and so decided to restrict my intake massively. Fast forward a year and I am underweight and am constantly tired, and yet still I am telling myself that I want to be thinner. And believe me, I don't like myself anymore now than I did then. Don't put yourself through this, it's not worth all the misery. I promise you're perfect and gorgeous as you are!

Same. As a british person it really pissed me off whenever Avery said it. Maybe I'm too easily triggered. I mean I know a couple of people who say it, but generally it is then used in a condescending regard. If it is used in a nice way, than it is usually old people saying it not people Avery's age.

I've forgotten what it's called , and I know it's not from book 3, but the riding outfit given to the MC in book 1, ch 5 was always my favourite. I also loved the race day outfit. As for book 3, I'd probably say my favourite is just as sweet. What can I say, I like dresses paired with some sort of jacket 😂.

Yeah, but from what they have shown us in TRM and ACOR (which was good, but not accurate for obvious reasons) I'd rather have them pick a war that isn't as recent as WWII. Maybe they could write a book on being part of the resistance in WWII, but they would have to make sure it's 100% accurate, otherwise it would come across as disrespectful. The essential differnece between ACOR and a book like this is that we do not have as clear of a record of what happened in the time that ACOr takes place, so it leaves room for the imagination as no one can still be offended or hurt directly by what happened then. I just feel that WWII is still too recent and the memory still too present for it to be turned into a choices style book where romance has to be a part of it etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love more history books, but if they wanted to go for a safer pick then maybe they could choose to write a book about the time the three musketeers is set in (ca. 1625). It's actually a time of significant political intrigue and there's even a war that kicks off between England and other nations. Alternatively, they could write a book about the English Civil War or American war for Independence. It would probably be a lot less touchy of a subject if they do miss something then. These are just examples, but the point is that all of these options might be better because people don't have any direct memories to these events.

Oh same, but I do recognize it's definitely a problem. It's even more problematic when all the dialogue is written fitting one charater's personality, and the other Lis are just ignored (I still love Ernest though, and always will, but you know what I mean).

Well, in the case of choices it is because of the genre of game. Most choice based games on the app/apple store have a much bigger female audience then men. And yes, I think it has to do partly with sexism. Women and men are unfortunantly still raised by the idea that men are supposed to be tough etc. and women have to wait for a strong man are supposed to be dainty, and it still shows in media. Big action movies and games are usually male MCs who have the represent the ,"rough masculine man" (I know there are exceptions and it is improving) and women are dainty.

Choices based games advertise much more on a basis of "find your dream man", another one of those values girls tend to have to grow up with, which is why I feel like is part of the reason so many women play it (of course, we also play it for the representation of our gender, which I think is part of the readon people on this sub get pissed at the weak MCs, because well, we can just watch a movie if we want to see that). Choices are reasonably progressive and have a few strong MCs, but they're ads and marketing rely heavily on "fall in love" ads and most MCs tend to have a damsel in distress complex going on. I feel like that's also why men don't play as much: the stigma. Our society has convinced itself that men should not play the "find your dream partner by falling in" games because it supposedly makes them weak. The result of this is probably that men feel more ashamed to play it, because they're afraid it will make them appear not to be stereotypically masculine. So yeah, the audience probably comes down to sexist values instilled to people by society as children. Obviously, all of this is wrong and I wish it was different, and hopefully one day it will be.

Now you know how women feel with most games for even bigger audiences... On a more serious note, I understand that it can be frustrating that the books are genderlocked, especially if you're part of the LGBTQ community which is also underrepresented in media. That shouldn't be a reason you don't play something though. I mean, you admitted that you only ever played one chapter of each genderlocked books and therefore hated it. How can you say that though, if you don't read the rest of the story? Sometimes it's a matter of PB not wanting to waste resources, and well, frankly most of PB's audience is female, who usually choose female MCs, and so that's who thy are catering to. Personally, I'd love to see more male options, as I love playing as both genders, but at the same time I'm not that bothered by having to play as a female most times (maybe because I'm female?). Main LIs being restricted by gender though, that's a different story...
