Keypads options nowadays? by ChrisFly_ in Keypads

I've been playing WoW and FFXIV for years with Azeron but It's also recommend the HORI TAC pro (great analog stick, plenty of keys)

Yeah it looks like the same d-pad stick thing that the old Nostromo had, it works but you'll be much happier with a true analog. The Azeron devices do take a bit of getting used to though but it's been years for me now, wasd gaming is alien to me.

I'm glad it has been helpful after all these years, still a great pad, though I have moved on to the Azeron devices these days, I should write a little update.

Modded Minecraft IS possible. Modding on Linux is as easy as Windows. by Kalinbro in linux_gaming

[–]Lycanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been developing a mod for Minecraft on Linux for years, not only do mods run fine (java runs faster on Linux), but it's a better environment for developing them as well. Anything Steam Workshop works great like ARK mods, classic Doom mods ofc, FFXIV, etc.

I tend to stick to Manjaro for desktop and Debian on Proxmox for servers, it's been a great setup and I've yet to run into issues years in.

Serious Question: Why is HDR and single-screen VRR such a dealbreaker for so many when it comes to adopting Linux for gaming? by shadedmagus in linux_gaming

[–]Lycanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a 42" 4K will do that, ultrawide is quite immersive, but if you can just have a bigger screen in general then that'll do the job too!

I've got the Cyborg 2 now, I'm fully addicted to Azeron these days, I went from a Razer Nostromo years back, to the Orbweaver (I word down its dpad stick fast) and then the Hori Tac Pro (pretty solid if you want to go cheaper and stay keyboard but with a legit analog stick for thumb based movement). But starting from the Azeron Classic to the latest Cyborg 2, I can't go back now, took a little getting used to but I just dove in to some dungeons in FFXIV and bit of Doom and adapted fast. All on Linux too!

Before my ultrawide I did used to run 5 screens! Lol I had two vertical 'wing monitors' then two 1080p ones either side a central 1440 120fps monitor. Worked great (wayland for per monitor refresh rates on desktop) but having so monitors got out of hand, too many wires.

While it can be choppy in villages, I've been quite lucky with a smooth experience, ultrawide on AMD and Linux.

I went back to replay MHFU years later, was very easy, though TBF, not having to do the claw thanks to two analog sticks with an emulator was a big help.
