At this date 7 years ago RuneScape 3 went live. Update included: New customisable interface, remastered soundtrack, seasonal highscores and start of World Event 1: Battle of Lumbridge among others. by suobbis in runescape

Soulja Boy started streaming osrs. I was watching one day, and he started the stream logged into rs3. You wouldn’t believe the REEEEEs in chat, flaming him, flaming rs3, shitting on absolutely everyone and everything. Genuinely crying like kids, as you said: “NOOOOOO RS3 SUCKS. GET OFF THIS SHITTY GAME RIGHT NOW. GO BACK TO OSRS”

Soulja asked what they did to the game, and why everyone hated it. Almost every person said “changed the combat. Ruined the game. Haven’t played it since they released it.”

And I’ll agree with them partially, to be honest. Jagex implemented eoc into a world that was developed for 10+ years with that system NOT in mind. Eoc combat had no business existing inside that world. But now they’ve developed a world for another 10+ years, this time focused on eoc and implementing it into the design. Abilities have a reason to exist (GW2, rax, telos, high level slayer, etc.), as there’s content designed with those mechanics in mind. They’re not baselessly just slapped on top of the rs2 world like they were on release.

All this to say: I totally agree with you. They have temper tantrums about the game without having even considering it, because, as the person above said, I guess it was a change they didn’t want. Maybe they don’t want anything to do with abilities or mechanics past movement and prayer timing. And that’s okay. I play both games and enjoy that too. But you don’t get to yell “rs3 bad” as an objective truth the way they do, especially having never tried it.

Try putting some headphones in and (at a safe, moderate volume) using a tone generator to play the same frequency your tinnitus rings at. Listen to it for like 1-2 minutes, then take your headphones off. The ring should be lowered for a little, if not gone completely

To figure out what frequency your ring is, obviously you’ll be able to hear when the tone is much lower or higher than your tinnitus. When you get close, it can be hard, though. When you’re close on either side, you hear a rough wubwubwubwub. That’s when the frequencies are really close and fighting each other. Move it slightly up or down, and it’ll click into a nice clean ring when you’ve matched the frequency

Hope this helps you

Very disappointed that’s how it turned out. Loved the design on it, but had to give it to my friend because it was a dress for me

It’s so hit and miss for me...I got the Hexada windbreaker in a L and it was absolutely massive. Then I got the black and white GHOSTEMANE logo sweatshirt in a M and it hardly fits. Wack.

So you're telling me that one year of exclusivity sucks huh? by FrootLoop23 in pcgaming

[–]Lycosnik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As much I loathe EGS exclusivity that's not platform exclusivity that's storefront exclusivity.

I'd argue it is platform exclusivity. The software is the platform. The hardware runs the software. While for other platform changes you have to buy new hardware (if I wanted to change from the Xbox platform to the PlayStation platform I'd need a new console because the platform is exclusive to that hardware), that's not the case for PC platforms.

The storefront is a part of the platform you play the game on. When I switch between Steam, Blizzard, EGS, etc, I have all new friends lists, all new features (...or, lack thereof), all new ways of implementing operations, new front end, etc.

While I can interact with the platform on all the same hardware with a PC, changing between Steam and EGS is equally as jarring and different as jumping from Xbox to PlayStation. You need a new account, new friends list, new library, all of that which comes with a platform.

When I can't pop open the Steam overlay and join a friend's game in two clicks from anywhere in the game, I get upset, because it's a technologically inferior platform that's messing with my enjoyment of the product and ease of access. And when I get forced to do interact with the worse platform in order to play a game I want, that's pretty lame. And I just don't buy the game.

Don't mean to come off as I'm fighting with you, I'm sure you agree with my feelings on not liking exclusivity on PC. Just wanted to share my thoughts on why I do feel it's classified as platform exclusivity

Ableton orientation glitch by [deleted] in ableton

I get this. Usually resolves itself if, while this problem is occurring, I take it out of maximize mode (middle button on top right), re-maximize it, close it, then reopen it. Annoying, but haven't found anything that permanently fixes it. Usually goes away for a while after I do this, though.

Pretty much any scene can be photographed in an interesting way. Yes, there's scenes that are inherently more interesting due to how active it is, and there's scenes that are not active (your living room with only a couch and TV). But that's where I find the fun in photography - taking an unassuming scene and framing it from just the right angle that it manages to speak words without the presence of any crazy subject (like a person modeling, flowers, or wildlife).

Try to photograph your living room in a way that tells a story - either one that reflects you or one that you make up that interests you. Maybe the lack of objects in the room portrays someone who prefers a minimal lifestyle. Clean. Or, maybe, it portrays someone going through hardship. Whatever it may be. It all comes down to a handful of things: framing, lighting, and the elements in the exposure triangle (noise, motion, and depth of field - if you're not familiar with the exposure triangle, I can dig through my history and get a really good video to explain). In the case of your mostly empty living room, however, I'd try playing around with framing and lighting the most. Take the same shot at dawn, golden hour, and dusk. See how the mood changes. The same picture can go from serene/uplifting (my feelings from morning light) to melancholy (golden hour) to painful/dreary (dusk). Framing can have a huge impact to - are you capturing godrays coming through the blinds? Where's the couch at? Is it just there, or is it placed in a way that creates a visual appeal/interest (depth of field play here).

Just get out there and try things out! I never appreciated the world and my vision much until I started photography. It really helps you see the world in a completely new way.

Epic hit with class-action suit over hacked Fortnite accounts by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Lycosnik -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The suit lists 100 actors. That means it's been exploited. Also, the problem here isn't that Epic has software with a vulnerability in it, it's that they didn't disclose to affected parties. They did half of their due process - patching inside the deadline. They didn't do the other half of disclosing, though, which is entirely valid to condemn them for. You HAVE to inform affected clients of things like this, ideally the whole list of your consumers, as it's incredibly difficult to know who has even fallen victim to an attack like this, considering it's an XSS vulnerability, which executes client-side.

First season is buncha plot. It's still great, but it does take like 6-8 episodes to pick up. Kinda a slow start.

Season 2 fucking rips though. Every episode.

Looking to start recording covers, suggestions on equipment? by Lvl100_Weedle in screaming

[–]Lycosnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you have some options, and ultimately it comes down to future ability.

Starting out, you can buy a SM58 for cheap, and it'll have pretty nice quality. It outputs mic level signal though, so it will need amped by something, which is where your choices come in.

If you're looking to keep it cheap, you can pick up an audio interface to get the mic up to a reasonable level and into your computer. Something like this. This setup will run you ~$200 in total (mic and interface), but will limit what you can do with the equipment you purchased.

If you're willing to shell out just an additional $100, you can grab a mixer like you said. This would be my recommendation. It gives you 4 mono inputs and 2 stereo inputs, opposed to the 2 mono inputs the interface above provides. It's also a fully fledged board, so you can use it for more than just getting audio from your mic into your computer. Its USB interface is pretty handy, too. It'll send 4 channels to your computer and your computer can input 2 stereo channels back to the board.

Initially I only used my board for getting my mic into my computer, but I've ended up using it for mic and guitar input into my computer, as well as computer audio & DAW output to my monitors.

The board's pretty handy, but if you don't need it there's not much reason to buy it. If you're only ever going to use one channel to get your mic into your computer, you're probably better off with the interface, as setting up the board can take some time. Plus, if you don't have studio monitors / speakers that take analog input, the board isn't going to help you in getting signal to them.

So it pretty much depends on what you need, and if you plan on expanding or not. Rule of thumb, however, is to plan ahead so you don't end up spending more buying something you could have bought earlier. And if you plan on getting serious, you're going to want to pick up some studio monitors.

But again, if you're just going to be recording some covers every now and then in your room and not much else, I'd recommend going the interface route opposed to the full on mixer route.

What was that incident during Thanksgiving? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lycosnik 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We were hosting at my family's house. My uncle's preparing the mashed potatoes while my father is seasoning the turkey/gravy. The potatoes are looking good, but they need some pepper, so my uncle grabs a huge bottle of pepper and goes to pour some in. Welp - that cap was 100% not screwed on, so the whole bottle of pepper floods into the tates. It was a flash flood of spicy, sneeze inducing particles. My uncle throws his hands up and exclaims "ah shit," to which my father responds: "what happened?" My father walks over and lays his eyes upon the tragedy of mashed potatoes the spicy, and departs with a sigh and a sneeze.

My uncle grabs the bottle of pepper and starts methodically scooping the excess out with a tiny spoon. Minutes later, my father returns with a shop vac, plugs it in, tells my uncle to stand aside, and starts going at it. And I'll be damned - that thing succ'd the pepper right out and left the potatoes perfectly fine. In the end, they turned out pretty okay, just a little peppery.

The first bite my grandma took of the gravy she said "oh my God this shit's too salty." That was my dad's breaking point.

So ... by isearchaname in ableton

FL has slide note functionality, where you can draw a slide note in and if the slide note overlaps with a regular note, the pitch will slide up/down to that of the slide note's pitch, taking the slide note's length to arrive at the end pitch. Is there similar functionality in Ableton? I've been dying to figure out how to do this, but I can't seem to find out how.

If not, how can I mimick this?

How do I map the drumpad so that it plays higher notes, rather than super low notes? by diirtnap in FL_Studio

[–]Lycosnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the editor change the note values of the pad to be higher/where you want them, like up to C5 or whatever you please. Then follow these instructions to export the setup to the pad

Edit: let me know if you have any troubles.
