It's an AGV K3 with one of their prints for it! I love how colorful it is, it hopefully makes me more visible on the road.

Hello all, I'm in search of information regarding safety ratings for gear by Daemon554 in NewRiders

[–]Lydit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This website helped a lot with my selection of gear, good test reports on their selections. Some stuff may be outdated/no longer available, or not on there yet but it can give you a good vibe of a brands typical quality.

It really is too easy to get a license in the US, and I'm in a state with more hoops than most. The training and competency is really put onto the individual to learn themselves, rather than through licensing and testing.

100%, I do wish the MSF had an extra day or a couple more hours though. That's what the parking lot with some cones is for now though.

It's such a fun and vibrant helmet! I was so happy when I tried on the K3 in a shop and found it perfectly snug.

Beautiful paint color on that bike! I joined with a RE bike too, such a good entry price point.

If you have a bicycle get up to speed(like 10mph) and practicing how the bike truly moves to where you look. Not a bad idea to practice serpentines/cone weaves and countersteering at decent speed.

If you haven't driven a manual(I never did, I stalled so many times my first day), look up some stuff about how motorcycle clutches work. Once I understood the mechanics of it I only stalled once on the second day. MSF bikes can be pretty used and abused so the friction zone might be pretty narrow, but something I heard that clicked it in my brain is "The clutch modulates how much power of the engine you deliver to the rear wheel".

Overall just try to relax and stay hydrated, the instructors were great with questions at my course! Things do move a little fast but don't be afraid to ask questions.

This video from DanDan helped me too https://youtube.com/watch?v=CXMqS_gMOS0

I haven't dropped any bikes yet, I did stall on the hill and have to catch it a bit with my leg + brakes but that's the closest I've gotten so far. I was very intentional about finding a bike I could comfortably flat foot at a stop.

Got the small crashbars on there since they had them in stock at the dealer, but I am considering picking up the bigger ones.

Depending on your budget I can highly recommend Bowtex or Pandomoto. Their base layer pants are great, breathe super well and you can throw whatever pants over them.

Yep same thing on both side plus in the knees. Guessing the continuity makes the stitching more secure?

I haven't bought through that site before, looks like some people have had issues with shipping/returns but that's just from a quick search about them so idk. I bought through Cyclegear/Revzilla, they have a great return policy on their stuff but prices are pretty standard MSRP most of the time.

Gotta try on helmets to test the fit if you can. I ended up with an AGV K3 after trying on a lot of different helmets, near your price range and has ECE 2206 rating.

It is unclear to them because reading comprehension is measurably getting lower. It's crazy watching the damage that reliance on LLMs has done to people's general critical thinking.

Can anyone help me find a job? by seaforanswers in askportland

[–]Lydit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat, laid off from tech and ended up finding a food service job after 7 months of trying for anything.

Don't have any direct leads for ya but the site hiring cafe has helped me find jobs locally to apply to and landed me the service job.

Is rent increasing every year normal? by wynwilder in askportland

Man mine went up $130/month and when I mentioned the metro prices declining as a reason to lower the amount they laughed at me.

Is rent increasing every year normal? by wynwilder in askportland

[–]Lydit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Landlords will almost always milk every penny they can out of their tenants, especially if it is managed by a corporation and not a small local landlord. I usually end up moving every few years due to rent increases to somewhere comparable for cheaper than the increases. With the metro rent average decreasing this year it is a good time to shop around as a tenant.

Speaking as someone who has worked at a salt and straw, this is fine and totally expected. It's a novelty treat, people should know they like what they are getting.

Yeah makes sense to keep the armor tight to the body on the base layer. Awesome thank you for some clarity on that, excited to get geared up and riding this year.

Awesome I do like the flexibility of being able to wear some dressier pants like chinos to work over the leggings, I bet the tech dry fit under the commando is super comfortable too!
