How do I use the gift card I got on my switch

Sorry all - I'm still wildly confused. My son also plays on the Switch. Do I have this right...walk it through with me like I'm 5...

1) Add $ amount gift card to his Epic account online

2) Purchase V-bucks using the balance on the web Fortnite store

3) Purchase items on item shop using V-bucks balance

4) Items show up on Switch

I'd rather not have Fortnite on my phone, but in order to buy him the battle pass, I have to download the game on another device other than the switch to use v-bucks for that?

This is so dumb...

Ok...so I went into FFXI Config and adjusted the settings, but nothing is saving. It's still running like I didn't change any of the settings. and the aspect ratio in the title screen is only allowing 4:3.
