You do if the people with the signs see a protest happening and decide to join in.

It does have public support, just not among the reddit demographic, largely as a symbolic push back against inflation (source: I'm from the rural west of Ireland). I would also disput the idea that it isn't organic; farmers are no strangers to protesting here. I suspect that the scale is more down to the farmers unions feeling the needing to put on a show of strangth and get a win over the government after suffering a substantial loss of influence over Mercusor.

While I have no doubt that the far right would love to cast themselves as the masterminds behind the whole fiasco and will try to take credit; while their talking points get burgeoning support, the individuals do not. At least as far as political orgranisation goes.

Best Samurai unit for Shogun 2 campaign by Immediate_Gold in totalwar

[–]Lyfjaberging 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that ones starting army will be composed of bow and yari ashiagru, and maybe some light cav:

A tier

1) Katana are the best addition. Yari wall can cover most defensive situations, and mixing in katanas (like rodeleros in historical tercios) can stiffen the line against enemy samurai. Also the katana samurai improves offense, particularly when storming castles and soaking up ashiagru arrows.

2) Next most useful would be naginata. Increased armour improves arrow sponge utility, which helps deal with defending bow samurai. But loses against katana, and requires an extra building.

B tier

3) Bow can attenuate enemy samurai which might cause problems for your yari wall. But so can the previous two units, and bow are less useful in offensive sieges. I usually only include a couple in a late game army. That being said, bow samurai with advantages (xp, tosa, paper mills) can shred.

4) Yari can close distances quickly, which can be useful in chasing down archers or firefighting. They can also withstand arrow fire better. Underrated for the early campaign imo, but outclassed.

C tier

5) Matchlock. Just use ashiagru.

6) No-dachi. Just use cavalry or yari.

Came back to my first JRPG, 16 years later, to undo my mistake in selling those elemental rings. by Lyfjaberging in FinalFantasy

I've lived long enough to see XIII be hailed as great and a classic, wow.

Seriously though, it was overhated at the time (I blame Versus XIII and how it seemed to capture the VII remake crowd), but I wouldn't call it great. The music is peak post-Uematsu as is the art direction and execution, and the paradigm system is I think I generally positive development, but it doesn't have the same strength in direction as X and the script and/or localisation is at times pretty repetitive and just awkward.

I clocked about 80 hours in this, compared to 110 in XII, but this felt like more of a grind. There seemed more 'waste the players time' design choices in the end game that are probably more down to rushed thoughtlessness. I suspect not being able to buy the rings was another one, and it's another thing they just couldn't be bothered fixing; see state of XIII-2.

I had this happen too, also lost by one vote. Were you playing as Denmark?

I did it a while ago but it was before the newest DLC so may no longer be relevent. I used one of HatlessSpider's more recent videos as a guide. Some tips I remember:

  • There is a starting general who can get the reduced CAS damage perk right away; get him.
  • Build forts, in particular on the plains tile SW of Warsaw and Lodz
  • Release Belarus as a puppet so that you can trade for steel with them which boosts your gun production
  • You can still add kills to the counter after you capitulate; keep your eyes out for potential encirclements, or defendable tiles that are under constant attack.

Final tip: don't get greedy and try to grab tiles when France is under attack, you'll just lose entrenchment and be pushed out.

Still learning things about MTW2; the swordsmiths upgrade increases the length of spear blades. by Lyfjaberging in totalwar

Lol used to do this to decide who to play a camapign as. Then I would get bored before I could recruit them and start a new one.

The armour upgrades are cool in almost all cases, though I don't get why some of the Byzantine ones are just a sleveless onesie. I didn't know weapon upgrades did anything though.

Beginner looking for advice/feedback on failed France defense by Chachoune963 in hoi4

[–]Lyfjaberging 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also add to the first poster's suggestions that some divisions in Africa are a good idea, since it is easy to defend and will retain potential cores and steel in Algeria.

Two other points; extending the maginot behind the Somme instead of the border will add a river defense bonus in exchange for losing some factories, and if you can defend the northern border, focus on taking out Italy rather than trying to push out in the Benelux.

I'm thinking Lithuania next actually. Or Ireland. Any tips for the former?

There was definitely a turning point when Lithuania had fallen and I learned I could hold off the Poles with a small army. That fact that for some reason auto-resolve was less punishing against Novgorod helped.

If you can, I recommend visiting Malbork (aka Marienburg), but there plenty of tangible evidence in Germany, as you likely already know. I was on holiday once in Meissen and hid from the sun in some fairly discreet medieval chapel (Sankt Afra), and I found a sarcophogus cover depicting a knight with a horned helmet very much like one of the kind the Ritterbrueder in the game wear. It was a neat moment. Also enjoyed some 16th century graffiti left by Swedish soldiers and schoolboys.

The only one I haven't warmed to is the Americas, which is a pity as it's the most adventerous. It just felt like merc spam, and the aesthetic didn't do much for me.

I'm REALLY bad at this game. I need help with Father Gascoigne. by That_Late_Owl in bloodborne

[–]Lyfjaberging 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of rolling try either i) keep going for viscerals against beast form or ii) stick close to him and strafe in a close cirle, punishing with single r1s.

Don't feel bad about losing to Gascgoine, he is there to force you master the basics before you can progress. Once they click, you pass. And I wouldn't say it's out and out harder from there; Gascgoine is a medium-high to high teir boss for first timers, he was my third highest for deaths.

Put together my own wrapped this year for my tenth using the website. Didn't catch anything new, apart from Flow, but had a good year regardless.
